What's a nicer way to say "that doesn't make any sense"?

Like when a user or even a fellow IT employee says something that is just way off base, like suggesting a solution to a problem or something. I always just say "nah that doesn't really make sense" or something and I say it in what I feel is a polite way, but there's the nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I'm like putting them down or being rude unintentionally. Am I overthinking, or is there a more professional way to phrase this?
