A stretch, but ID the plane my dad was on in this?

May or June 1994, he quotes it was a direct flight from KBDL to KMCO, he’s also not sure what airline it was
Educational-Coat-750@reddit
I’m going to guess a Delta 737-300
Cool-Acanthaceae8968@reddit
Don’t think too many -200s had the G4 galley. They didn’t have the space.
Educational-Coat-750@reddit
Damn dude! I’ll give you that! I would never be able to ID a galley like that
Blankok93@reddit
I can do that on 737’s and 787, but it’s purely because I work on those.
This one is 100% a 737-300
heybudheypal@reddit
Southwest 200
Sesemebun@reddit
That guy in the row behind on the left is me actually.
This is a b-29. This photo was taken august 6, 1945. When this photo was taken, we were likely at some point over the Atlantic Ocean, not yet fully realizing the weight of what we had done
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
And why were you not early your government issued nuke-proof swim goggles???
Throwaway4Limerence@reddit
A320
They had their swim goggles on in case they landed in the Hudson River.

😂
agha0013@reddit
based on the overhead buttons and panels, it looks like the second gen 737s, -300/400/500
TY5ieZZCfRQJjAs@reddit
Yeah, I agree.
(I was the camera)
flume@reddit
But who was phone?
Icy_Huckleberry_8049@reddit
yep, 737 as the panels are 737 type and the galley looks like a 737 galley based upon the cabinet doors
TommScales@reddit
American Airlines md-80?
Old-Car-9962@reddit
Ah, this goes out to the wonderful Reddit folks

727 or 737. I worked on 727s that had that style PSU panels and read lights.
towandatexan@reddit
I won’t pretend to be able to ID the plane, but I would bet my life on the airline: it’s Delta.
My proof: when I was a small child in the late 90s/early 00s, my grandfather worked as a mechanic specialist for Delta. He took me on a very empty flight once (deadheader?) but I got airsick with some turbulence and threw up all over myself. I distinctly remember sitting there nauseously staring at the large red squares against the blue fabric, which looked almost identical to an ugly rug my mom owned at the time.
This is the exact pattern- it’s not something I’ve easily forgotten. Very embarrassing experience.
(IIRC, the design was on the whole seatback of the chair; not just the headrest.)
GroceryFragrant6729@reddit
based on the headrest covers, this was from a hollywood studio mockup
The_Great_Squijibo@reddit
It's been 25 minutes and no one has the registration number of the aircraft yet? I'm a bit shocked.
nalc@reddit
Post it to /r/helicopters and within 5 minutes it will be identified as a Black Hawk
TY5ieZZCfRQJjAs@reddit
Or in r/UFO. Give it a bit. Someone will say they were probably abducted.
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Same, I also want the color of the pilots socks
AutoModerrator-69@reddit
This one look like the passenger F-22
richredditor01@reddit
Fokker 50
orm518@reddit
People seem very confident, so maybe I’m wrong but this has the feel of a widebody. I’ve googled a lot of 737 classic interiors and idk.
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
I was initially saying wide body before I posted it here but it was from kbdl and the only wide bodies there that I know of are cargo 767’s and the occasional jfk bound diversion
dry-heat-hot@reddit
I agree with 737 classic but I'm wondering if its a charter, those seats don't look like any I remember from the 90s.
Cool-Acanthaceae8968@reddit
Definitely not Continental.
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Could’ve been a charter, I’m guessing probably not tho bc we both went to the same hs and they do that trip pretty often for chorus and they just book a bunch of tickets on a regular flight
dry-heat-hot@reddit
I'm gonna go with Delta 737-300. They had the Type they had the direct route, they had the colors. https://dlg.usg.edu/record/delta_dal-tt_dal-tt-19941101
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Didn’t see anything ab the seats on that link
dry-heat-hot@reddit
Like I said until someone positively identifies those seats it's conjecture what airline and even then proving will be hard without a photo. What I do know is there is proof that Delta flew the type and flew the route direct.
American, United and Pan Am Did not fly the route. I can't find anything about TWA but they did not fly the type, they had no 737s. America West didn't fly to Hartford at all
Northwest flew "72S" 727-200 they had no 737s.
https://northwestairlineshistory.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/NW-schedule-1994-05-01.pdf
So were back to Delta and USAir. And I say Delta had a bigger presence and route and probably was able to offer lower price tickets.
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Check u/the_whole_arsenal ‘s comment, they said Delta Airlines 737-300 based on the SEATS, and also was able to narrow it down to 31 aircraft
Cool-Acanthaceae8968@reddit
737 Classic.
Definitely Boeing narrow body.. but the G4 galley and lavs on either side is a typical 737 configuration and the PSUs are too old to be an NG.
the_whole_arsenal@reddit
Delta used to fly Bradley to Orlando and had blue headrests with rod spots and flew the 737-300 from 1987 until 2005.
Educational-Coat-750@reddit
I was thinking the same thing. Definitely a narrow body; could maybe be a 200, but I’m only saying that because Delta had 75 200’s and 31 300’s during the time.
the_whole_arsenal@reddit
The only reason I am leaning toward it being a Delta -300 is because the airline used to send the -200 to short field runways (<7000 ft) and the -300 to long field runways (>7000 ft). Bradley has had a 9000' runway (6/24) since 1942 (when it had bombers). The -300 had a CFM56 engine and required 7500' minimum for takeoff, whereas the -200 had the PW JT8, and needed just 6100' minimum to takeoff.
If this did end up being an AirTran plane, it could have only been a 737-200, because i can't find any evidence they owned a -300.
Educational-Coat-750@reddit
Interesting! I didn’t think of runway length requirements between the two 737’s
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Ay thanks bro, now I’m just gonna wait for someone to find the tail number
the_whole_arsenal@reddit
There would be just 31 options. Starts with N221DL and ends with N952WP (still flying). https://www.planespotters.net/airline/Delta-Air-Lines?refresh=1
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Bro now way 😂
MaddingtonBear@reddit
Delta flew BDL-MCO once daily in May 1994, departed in the 700a hour. Unfortunately, the records don't go back that far for the specific type or tail number.
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
With 95% confidence, commenters have narrowed it down to a delta airlines 737-300, now for the real stretch: tail number.
Aggravating_Damage47@reddit
I'm talking out my ass but I'm guessing it was a delta 757
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Not a terrible guess, narrow body that very well could have been doing that route
Plazzmo@reddit
I spent a solid while trying to find any airline from the mid-nineties with that distinct seat pattern and came up empty
Ok_Stick_3070@reddit
AirTran? Seats look familiar to me and Orlando as destination makes me think AirTran.
the_whole_arsenal@reddit
https://images.app.goo.gl/X4w6R4jTZTDQg6dSA
Air tran had solid blue and rounded headrests. Delta's headrests were more square, but i remember spots, not squares
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
Could some airlines ever do one off seat patterns? Like how special liveries are obviously one off’s of the normal livery?
Puravida1904@reddit
One of you will find the tail number, calling it now
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
😂😂
disfannj@reddit
737 classic. there are 3 overhead lights plus the galley doesn't have an aft exit
East_Brush_1501@reddit (OP)
I was gonna say the galley looked pretty big so I initially thought a wide body
agha0013@reddit
the overhead bins and some details of the cabin shape make me think narrow body, and for sure not having the rear door that disfannj mentions eliminates the 727
disfannj@reddit
it might be...it's been ages since i've flown on a oldie
MechTrician504@reddit
I was gonna say 767. Those PSU panels and buttons look familiar.
agha0013@reddit
the bins are all wrong for the 767s of the time though, and I'm pretty certain this is a narrow body.
sloppyrock@reddit
Looks like a classic 737 with those reading and call light switches. -300 or 400 perhaps?
