ULPT: I want to get a fake ID but am worried about my parents finding it in the mail. Is it a good idea to have USPS hold my package for me? Or will they check it and find out it's fake and I go to jail?

If you can't or don't have access to a PO box what about your job if you have one? Their good places to get things delivered you don't want prying eyes depending on your manager, co workers.

Have the sender stick it inside a two-layer greeting card, and tape the two sheets together to keep it inside.
If your people are going to open your mail however, you've got bigger problems than needing to buy a case of beer, that's shit they do to prisoners.

Chicken and egg situation

Egg came first. Laid by an animal that was not a chicken. Out hatched the first chicken. It’s science.

Thank you Neil Degrasse Tyson for killing the vibe.

I've gotta ask... do you think that that the USPS that delivers mail to your house is somehow different from the USPS that would hold your mail...? If there's a chance they'd check it here, there's an equal chance they can check it over there, wouldn't you agree?
Basically three minutes of googling will inform you that USPS can't check your mail without suspicion of you committing a crime. So if there's a suspicious aspect to that package, doesn't matter if you're asking it be sent to your house, the post office, or the fucking moon, they'll stop it and search it before it gets to your local office.
If it's a tracked package, you can ask the person shipping it to request it be held or request it yourself. If it's an envelope/basic mail, only way is to place a mail hold, but they will hold ALL mail to your house so keep that in mind.

This. The return address hopefully doesn't say "1-800 Illegal Fake IDs". You'll be good

I only use USPS. UPS/Fedex/DHL have the right to open any package in their possession for any reason.

Ask whomever is making the ID to hide it Discreetly when shipping. Feel free to explain the reason why, I’m sure they’ll understand.
Horror_Cow_7870@reddit
Have it sent to yourself via "General Delivery". Ask at your post office for details.

Sign up for a PO box for a month and have it shipped there

Doesn’t USPS leave a notice in your mailbox indicating you have a package to pick up? Parents might find that.
FedEx retail locations (like the old Kinkos where you can have copies made) will hold FedEx packages for you.
(The post office is not going to inspect your package unless it looks very suspicious.)

Okay? So he goes to get his id and brings a decoy package home (if he has half a brain)

i know someone whose mailed small amounts of drugs before lol USPS arent opening your mail unless they have really good reason to believe its a massive amount of drugs, like the kind of amount that implies trafficking, or something else illegal. even then, its USPS. they barely have the resources to deliver mail correctly, let alone check to make sure every package is above board.
diablitos@reddit
USPS cannot open your mail without a warrant (or so it is supposed to be, who knows under what's coming)- private carriers can. Not sure why your folks would open a flat envelope addressed to you, but you can adjudicate that call.

Always good to bump a state crime to a federal one by involving a federal agency.
