I used to live in Victoria, that's crazy! Definitely fortunate that there were no serious injuries or fatalities!
horst-graben@reddit
Outside of no flaps, that's an excellent "crash"
PayOk8052@reddit
That’s criminally terrible airmanship. Rule #1 is you don’t endanger people on the ground. There’s also no excuse for running out of gas, but if you do you land in a field or the woods, especially if you don’t have any passengers, you don’t get to kill others to try and save your dumb &SS. Flaps would have reduced the speed, and landing distance, feather the props would have i creased the glide ratio and made the plane less dangerous to people on the ground. Take his license and charge him with attempted murder.
Damn_Carls@reddit (OP)
Actually, no. https://www.victoriaadvocate.com/news/crime/plane-crashes-in-victoria-at-zac-lentz-parkway-and-mockingbird/article_2f2fb894-b805-11ef-8ff5-fb83ecd1b6f3.html
Milked_Cows@reddit
Only 1 of the 5 injuries was considered serious, one person was release at the scene and 3 are at the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. I would still consider that a win. Much better than everyone dying
ExplorerAA@reddit
Pretty sure all drivers involved would have preferred the plane to stay in the air until it reached a proper runway.
cAR15tel@reddit
Especially when there’s pasture on the other side of the road…
Steve_the_Stevedore@reddit
I'd wager that the pilot would have like that as well. The plane didn't have enough fuel though. Under that premise this is a pretty good crash.
ExplorerAA@reddit
Agree to disagree, seems to be a lot of increasing aviation complacency, I think pilots need increased liability for incidents like this. All the injury, damage, suffering..... because an idiot did something he probably shouldn't have. (will take the idiot comment back if we find out this wasnt his fault.... but it probably was, and may he please get sued beyond the limits of his insurance)
Steve_the_Stevedore@reddit
I don't disagree with you. I just didn't say what you claim that I said.
Even if he ran out of fuel on purpose and wanted to crash: The part where he put the plane down on that road and nobody died is still pretty alright.
You can say that without absolving the pilot of any wrongdoing you know? You can call his behaviour reckless, call him an idiot and call for his license to be revoked and still recognise that the landing was pretty good and a comparibly midl outcome to a dire situation.
ExplorerAA@reddit
thats fair, wasnt trying to speak for you, perhaps I misinterpreted. cheers.
ExplorerAA@reddit
I'm wagering that we will learn this plane should have never left the ground to begin with.
Guadalajara3@reddit
Injured is better than dead. This is a good outcome in the circumstance, could definitely have been worse
ExplorerAA@reddit
could have been an even better outcome, had they not run out of fuel ?!?!? everyone making excuses for the negligent pilot.
MangoShadeTree@reddit
Hope that SUV that was turned over has Farmer's insurance.
"and what was the make and model of the vehicle that hit you?"
necrogeisha@reddit
Hopefully not or they'll spend years litigating at this may not be within the defined limits of their policy.
Americanski7@reddit
Comprehensive: missile or falling object
ExplorerAA@reddit
'Member, yall... everything in Texas is an act of God!
AppalachianEnvy@reddit
Really any of the insurance companies can use this in ads. Mayhem.
OkBubbyBaka@reddit
“I’ve never heard of that model, can you describe it?”
“Well… it has 2 wings”
Babna_123@reddit
It’s more of a fast landing than a crash
kj_gamer2614@reddit
Any other link, won’t let me open it cause EU laws
hay-gfkys@reddit
😂. Stfu.
Mercy_Rule_34@reddit
fucking yikes, OP.
LockPickingPilot@reddit
Defend your stance
ExplorerAA@reddit
hard to call any flying aircraft without fuel "perfect"
ExplorerAA@reddit
It appears this is professional malpractice on the part of a highly experienced airline pilot. Hope he has good insurance.
ZealousidealBit5560@reddit
I got bad eyes. I thought he was landing on the apron next to the hangars. What were cars doing there.
PDXGuy33333@reddit
Plane is registered to an aircraft services company called MARC, Inc. located at a small airport

contrail_25@reddit
I routinely flew in their planes back in 2005-2006 when I worked for a survey company. Navajos, 310s, and a clapped out aztec at the time. Got lots of interesting stories…
One of my favorite planes ended up wrecked:
https://asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/188611
73Ncommando850@reddit
Lol. I was a mechanic for them for a little while. Me and a few marc inc expats work on war birds now. What an experience that place was. Sadly i arrived after the old man was gone. My first ride in private a plane was in one of their chieftains that went down in mexico a week after I started.
captain_beefheart14@reddit
Do you work on that DC-3 in… Brandon? Forgot where it’s based
73Ncommando850@reddit
There’s not an airport in Brandon. There was a c47 at raymond but i had nothing to do with. There was a dc3 on the ramp at tvr for about 2 months recently but they brought their own guys. Hankins over in jackson ran dc3’s but that was wayyy before my time
captain_beefheart14@reddit
Yeah couldn’t remember where it was located. There’s some guy in that area that owns one though.
mischanix@reddit
I'm relegated to flightsim only but in the sim my favorite plane is by far the 310... That accident, geez, running the auxes dry at nearly the worst possible time. At least it was a "good" landing.
PDXGuy33333@reddit
Company has been around since '87. One day I'd like to sit down with an old FBO operator who's been in the business for about 50 years and just listen to stories. There have to be some good ones.
Donut_eater32@reddit
The crash happened about 3mm away from the airport
The737flyer@reddit
The question is, how is a guy just walking casually on a high way?
Impossible_Cycle9460@reddit
That looks like a frontage road with the highway behind it.
ViciousNakedMoleRat@reddit
Yep, it is, but it also shows you the state of pedestrian infrastructure in many parts of the US.
Wanna walk to your neighbor? Sure, take this 21 walk along this unprotected shoulder.
atbths@reddit
My man, yards are made for walking on.
10tonheadofwetsand@reddit
What if that’s not your yard?
zevonyumaxray@reddit
In the US, it's probably safer on the highway. In some places, I'm not even joking.
bigfoot_done_hiding@reddit
It's Texas. You are definitely not joking. You are already raising some hackles by walkin' on the side of the road when you should be drivin' like a red-blooded 'murican!
VayVay42@reddit
Yeah, I am absolutely not walking through a random stranger's back yard in Texas. That's a good way to get yourself an terminal case of lead poisoning.
10tonheadofwetsand@reddit
100%. I would never cross through a stranger’s fenced in backyard unless I wanted to die.
SovereignAxe@reddit
There's a very real possibility that there is a fence or impassable shrubbery between those two neighborhoods.
And that is by design.
Srirachachacha@reddit
Who would ever take the route in your screenshot
10tonheadofwetsand@reddit
What route would you take? Through a stranger’s backyard?
Srirachachacha@reddit
Yeah, I'm no chicken
VayVay42@reddit
Yeah... I'm not just randomly strolling through anyone's backyard in Texas. That's a much more likely way to get dead than a plane landing on your head on a public road.
Vaerktoejskasse@reddit
Excellent answer, thanks :)
10tonheadofwetsand@reddit
Maybe not chicken, but incredibly stupid.
Srirachachacha@reddit
Yes why not
monsantobreath@reddit
Nobody, that's the point.
Srirachachacha@reddit
How is that the point of their comment? They're trying to imply that the only feasible route is on the highway
Steve_the_Stevedore@reddit
They are implying that there is no feasible route.
monsantobreath@reddit
Yes, that America is so hostile to non car owners that there was never any planned way to connect communities outside of vehicle transport despite being so close.
Porkyrogue@reddit
It's longer if you follow the sidewalks
Afitz93@reddit
Not only that, he just casually continues walking forward as a plane lands on said highway? Like it’s a normal occurrence?
The737flyer@reddit
I doubt he had time to react whether his life was in danger, its like he went through something similar before
Ok_Presentation_4971@reddit
In Texas there are no sidewalks
M3ATWAG0N@reddit
We die like men!
imsadyoubitch@reddit
And if there are, they're bigger than any sidewalk in any other part of the country because Texas.
LilSebastian_482@reddit
Small town Texas.
ShakataGaNai@reddit
Why are they recording? And not turning around to head towards the plane crash that happen RIGHT in front of them?
Porky5CO@reddit
Most people wouldn't choose to do that or know what to do.
papa_zach15@reddit
high school is near by and he was walking home
durrow@reddit
Fuel exhaustion would be my first guess
Ecopilot@reddit
Lots of engine noises. One tank?
durrow@reddit
Not enough noise. Props are spinning because the engine hasn’t seized. Lack of oil would lock it up and they should be feathered. Just my guess. That’s not enough noise for a twin with 540 engines.
papa_zach15@reddit
i made a post with the flight path. no clue what it was doing but it did circles for about 5hours
papa_zach15@reddit
its was survey plane for oil and gas so maybe it surveying
ProudlyWearingThe8@reddit
Ironic.
Steve_the_Stevedore@reddit
"Plane ran out of fuel looking for gas"
73Ncommando850@reddit
I am not gonna say anything to put myself in a bind, but i would say fuel exhaustion…
MissMary_86@reddit
How !
ExplorerAA@reddit
Too early to tell, but my personal guess is the pilot did something irresponsible (like run out of fuel), putting innocent people on the ground in unnecessary risk.
te_anau@reddit
Pilot desperately doing everything they can to avoid decapitating the pedestrian, and the pedestrian is all "well, I've got the right of way, so I'm not taking a single step off this asphalt."
Only_Progress6207@reddit
He knows the camera man never dies

I can’t remember which movie.
Vegemite_Boast@reddit
Oh shit. Midnight Cowboy.
Gatt__@reddit
“Fuck you im to the right”
chessplayer41597@reddit
Dude the person taking that video seems like they didn't even out the way .
Impossible_Agency992@reddit
It’s a survey aircraft, I’m familiar with this company. Rumor is no fuel.
pullbang@reddit
How the crap do you crash a Navajo?
flightist@reddit
Like dozens of other pilots, I’m guessing
pullbang@reddit
I thought these were the last of the indestructible…
flightist@reddit
A Ho in 2024 has seen some shit, you aren’t wrong.
pullbang@reddit
Neither are you haha
hoppertn@reddit
How did this guy not start walking back to the plane landing?
Atomkraft-Ja-Bitte@reddit
He lives in Bermuda. It's a common occurrence
Affectionate_Fee3292@reddit
Bro seams so nonchalant about
danit0ba94@reddit
Looks like they swerved to avoid you.
And you just kept walking.
Bruh.
XDog_Dick_AfternoonX@reddit
The pilot was clearly giving him a wing tip salute because of his massive balls!
saml01@reddit
No flaps :(
Ok_Needleworker2438@reddit
Flaps sometimes no operational :(
soiknowwhentoduck@reddit
Sometimes flappies no flappy :(
Sometimes flappies too flappy :(
Charlie2343@reddit
Cameraman did his job but almost got sliced in half in the process
CH-47AV8R@reddit
I thought for sure they were going to clip that sign overhead trying to avoid this numb nuts in the road.
KG_advantage@reddit
I’d be a little nervous standing this close to plane trying to make a landing.
Whipitreelgud@reddit
Navajo 453 Lima, cleared to land I-635 or frontage road, your discretion.
Far_Top_7663@reddit
It would not be "cleared land" tough, more like "landing at your own risk" [I know, very nerd comment]
Whipitreelgud@reddit
Not my downvotes - I didn’t think a /s was needed because it’s a bit preposterous on the whole. I was glad they had an otherwise uneventful landing.
Far_Top_7663@reddit
I know, I was just just splitting hairs for fun. I collect some karma with comments that I only make to collect some karma, so I can then waste it saying want I want. In any case, sorry for being nitpicking again, but the landing was not otherwise uneventful. 4 out of 5 occupants were hospitalized, one in serious condition. Still a good outcome given the circumstances, I would say, so I am happy too. I wish that all ends well especially for the seriously injured.
dry-heat-hot@reddit
All things considered. Looks pretty successful to me. Nice work.
redbits@reddit
Strangely no flaps, resulting in high speed, bouncy touchdown then hit three cars and split completely in half.
redbits@reddit
Hit three cars and split completely in half.
GardenOfUna@reddit
what a smug fuck recording. completely taking away crucial attention from the pilot that is now trying to not decapitate the suicidal fucking deer. thinks he's the stoic unbothered man or some shit.
wetforpools@reddit
Totally agree
RadosAvocados@reddit
meetgeorgejetson10@reddit
Was the right prop feathered?
73Ncommando850@reddit
Lol. I know thst plane
Mimshot@reddit
Ahem that’s an unplanned off airport landing.
