CEOs and POs who are obsessed with AI

There’s a good reason for this, even though it seems insane at first. Well, one underlying reason and two angles. The reason is that AI allows you to build fundamentally different products and experiences than before, which means there’s untapped potential in almost every vertical where if you’re the first mover you can potentially capture that value. That’s the rationale and the first mover element is why the urgency is there. Then if you take that as true, there are two angles: 1. It’s likely AI could dramatically improve your business in ways that haven’t been considered, allowing the business to be much more profitable/successful/whatever. 2. If someone does (1) and it’s not you, that likely spells the end of you as a company. It forms a huge carrot and a huge stick, and is an existential threat/opportunity where moving fast is necessary to avoid being outpaced. It may turn out that AI is totally useless in your area but it would be totally irresponsible of anyone leading the company not to genuinely check first before declaring it useless, and you stand to lose a lot more by exiting the race than you gain by ignoring it. Frankly I’m just so glad crypto hype is over, that was a frenzy around tech that was almost never useful. The reality is AI tools are being extremely valuable today, right now, in their infancy. Thats a way happier situation imo.
