Is NowTV for Sky Sports decent?

I’m tempted to get the streaming service NowTV for Sky Sports next month, has anybody else got it and if so, what do they think?

Hi, I currently have it. Make sure you look out for any deals that they offer. I tend to have it from March to December for F1 and the cricket season. I pay £19.99 per month just for Sky Sports.

They’ve got an offer on at the moment at £21 for 6 months. That seems decent.

£21 a month right now £21 total for six months?

£21 a month for 6 months yes. Then goes up to £34 or something like that

Top tip - try cancelling your subscription online, it will ask you 4 to 5 times if you want to cancel and on the last attempt it offers you a discount deal for 6 months (you can do this across any of their items including boost). You can do this while on an existing deal to keep it rolling on another 6 months.

They usually do deals around the the start of sporting seasons. If you can hold off until August, about a week or so before the start of the premier league there is usually a 12 month offer. I think I paid £25 last year for 12 months. Likewise if you cancel they’ll sometimes offer you deals, my friend did this and they offered £200 for the year a couple of years ago. Best part was they did it as an offer code and me and several of my friends were able to use it as well.

I can’t hold off mate, I haven’t got the NERVE. I’m going to pull the trigger this weekend I’ve decided.

They often do an F1 season pass for a fixed price that works out less than monthly plans. You need the full amount up front of course…

It's good. As others have said, it is roughly about 45 seconds behind live TV so turn off notifications. Also, boost is quite useful but I would recommend that you keep cancelling your boost add on towards the end of the month and they give you offers so you might pay £2-3 for boost each month instead of £6. I've saved some money by doing this.

I use it, mainly for the F1 and the darts and find it pretty good. It’s expensive but if you find a decent deal you’ll be ok. Be aware you’ll have to take out the boost pack for HD which is £6 extra per month.

I used to do this but got so frustrated with the inability to watch something timeslipped (ie, starting to watch it before the live event has finished) that I gave up. Got a VPN, subscribed to F1TV Pro for £59.99 a year, and haven’t looked back…

Have it for the F1. My gripe is unless you watch it live, it can be ages before it is available on demand. I often end up not being able to watch the qualifying before the race.

Yes, agree with that one. Very frustrating

I think with F1 you have to wait for on demand because Channel 4 have rights to show their evening highlights first. It's really annoying either way.

Yeah, nice. They’ve got a deal at the moment - £21 for 6 months. That includes a month of boost.

Literally just got it now for the Ashes. £20-odd a month deal for six months. I've got to remember to cancel it as I paid for BT Sport for over a year after getting it for the Ashes last time!

Is it simple? Literally just sign up using the offer, input the details and then you’re streaming straight away?

Yeah it's quite straightforward. Even cancelling is quite easy also.

Definitely not decent enough to not sail the high seas. Lots of buffering, poor apps, over the top "extras" like 1080p streaming.

It’s good. Only drawbacks is that there are no red button functions (sometimes useful like in F1) and the stream is slightly behind real time.

How far behind? Do you have “boost”? They’re naughty giving you a free month and then taking it away unless you stump up an extra £6. But I bet it’s worth it

RaceFan1027@reddit

Probably 30 seconds? Enough time for someone to type a reaction to something before you’ve seen it (I used to do live text commentary of F1 races). I’ve never had boost because we have Now through BT (so no free trial). It’s only annoying when two people want to watch something in different rooms but I’ve not noticed it enough to warrant paying for it.

I had it a while ago. It was decent enough. There’s a slight delay on the stream though. Not too long though. Just turn your notifications off.
