How has this thread not gotten more comments?!?!
My partner and I are trying to figure this out right now as their job doesn't accommodate 1099 work well.
What was your process? Who was your lawyer? Lexidy law which is pretty well resourced told us to find another visa because they had a 1/40 success rate last year. Is the problem just some dumb the forms aren't updated to the language of a w2 or is it a legit law that we'd but up against?

Hiii! Im just seeing this! My biggest learning moment was to reach out to my state senator. He helped me really move my documentation through. The hardest part is getting the social security certificate, it was the first thing I submitted for and the last thing I got. Thankfully that’s what my senator assisted with. My lawyer was scammy, I really don’t recommend using him. If you’re still in need of help, dm me. I had the documentation he sent me.

I don't think we can do a W2 job right now with our line of work. We're still trying to move towards DNV situation. What was the name of your lawyer/law firm?

Last I looked into this, you couldn't get the social security certificate needed as a US citizen. How'd you get around that?

Its not impossible to get it, it can just be tricky. I reached out to my state senator to get help with getting the certificate!
