Copy wix website to a standalone hosting platform?

Hello, I'm looking to copy my Wix website onto a different hosting provider. The website is completely built and finished already, but I want to use a different host now due to a multitude of reasons. I don't know how to code a website from scratch, hence why I used a website builder such as Wix. What should I do? Should I copy my exact site onto a different hosting platform such as WordPress Hosting? I'm not sure how to copy my exact site or how to copy the code from anywhere, I know this sounds completely newbie but any advice for my situation would be appreciated.

Hello :) Wix, (SquareSpace) and others web based building platforms are exactly that, web based proprietary and locked. Wordpress (and Drupal, Magento, and others) are Content Management Systems, aka a software you can manipulate to produce a website. They can be self hosted or hosted "a la " Wix. If I remember correctly, this is the same for Odoo. From what you describe, you need the second category. You could go two ways with this: * Learn wordpress or an equivalent, rebuild the website with it and host it as you want / see fit for your business. * Find yourself a Dev who would do it (in house or freelance) If the wix still exist, a good web dev could use it as inspiration to avoid the problems mentionned by u/ [HashtagSecurity](https://www.reddit.com/user/HashtagSecurity/)

WiX is a proprietary builder. What you get from using their platform is that nothing is exportable. If you want to move to Wordpress you'll be building a new Wordpress site.

Ah, okay. I was hoping there would be some sort of workaround I could do but I guess not. I was originally blocked off of Wix because of IP Infringement reasons on my site. My business sells branded items, nothing nefarious or selling fake items, just items that are name-brand. Would I run into this IP issue if I just built the same site I already have onto WordPress? Thanks for the help so far

You can't really describe "rules for Wordpress" because it's a product you can host with any random party. The majority of web hosting companies will have their own rules about IP infringement, but they'll enforce to varying degrees and of course hosts operating in parts of the world won't care.

Also worth mentioning data export limitations Unless its changed recently you have to migrate through RSS and manually saving each image and upload from your WiX site to the new platform. There have been people that have scraped their own sites and replicated them to basic HTML in the past but there are a couple of problems with that: * It is static from that point on and you loose the ability to edit it by normal end users as there isn't a visual editor for them * WIX reportedly at one point was actively searching for people that had done that (I would guess by looking at metadata or something that they could search for in the content and comparing it against the cancelled site) and sued at least some of them for replicating their propitiatory front end.

This is the unfortunate answer. Downside of using something like Wix, SquareSpace, Shopify, Odoo, etc is that you're locked to their platform and hosting.
