I literally just received a card this year with the normal picture of the sender's family in front. In the back was a picture of the electoral map of the 2024 election saying "Happy Holidays!". Someone was happy with the results....ugh.

Pretty much my reaction. This was the first year we ever got a card from them so something tells me they wanted to blast it out to everyone they could. I don't care what your politics are, but on a Christmas card? That's tacky as hell.

I love sending Christmas cards and we used to receive so many, it made me really happy. I’ve noticed the amount of cards we receive has really dwindled. This might be the last year I send so many because it seems it’s just not the thing to do anymore. Or I’ll just send to the few people that still send them.

Sigh. This topic makes me sad. I loved receiving cards and taping them up along the door frame of my living room but every year there are fewer. I still send them out but now to immediate friends and family. When I was very young I remember walking into my grandparents house and cards would be hung everywhere. My grandmother would show me every card and tell me about the person/family who sent it.

I send about a dozen I also started sending cards throughout the year to friends and family. So my dog mails cards on Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day and randomly includes stickers or coupons for free ice cream. Everyone gets bills and junk mail so I like to think I make people smile a few times a year. I know my older relatives especially appreciate it.

Even if I wanted to send/receive Christmas cards (non-virtual) here in Canada our mail service has been on strike 3 weeks with no end in sight. That’s a LOT of unmailed Christmas cards, presents Ect. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I put on a Christmas movie and write about 30 cards. I get far less back but I don't really care. The ones I do get, go up on the mantle. I do appreciate the hand written ones more than the automated type cards, but they're still nice to get.

I'm old enough that if I stopped sending them, people would seriously just think that I died. I don't send/receive a lot - family, close friends, old high school friends, and the (still living) parents of my very close childhood friends. My mom's 83 and we joke that if we stop, recipients will think we're just another old friend who died. Even with this year's postal strike here in Canada I'm putting them in the mail for when the strike is over for that very reason!

We receive less and less each year. I don’t send them anymore. I don’t really like cards in the first place. Half are people who sign their names on a preprinted card and that’s it. Most don’t even address it to you. The other half are photo cards which has a particular self centered vibe that doesnt sit well with me.

I have one family friend who still sends me a Christmas card and I send her and her husband each a card. Her card is sweet and his card is the funniest card I can find. Especially if it has childish humor or fart humor. He seems to enjoy the funny cards and he’s 86 years old now. Hopefully he’s not lying to me about enjoying the funny cards. I enjoy trying to find a new card for him each year.

I stopped for several years. Honestly it was just a little bit too much work when I was already super busy just trying to stay afloat. I am definitely sending them out this year because I have more time in my life and very few senior family members who really seem to enjoy getting them. So I will take more time this year writing out the letters that go with the cards I go to my 70, 80, and 90 year old family members. I have all the cards ready, all the stamps ready, and the stationary and this weekend is when I start writing the letters and addressing the envelopes.

Every year, list of around 150 friends and family local and around the country. When the kids were little, it was always family/kids-photo-centric. But the past 4 years or so we commission our now 18yo, a super talented artist, to create a holiday card. They’re working on this year’s right now!

I used to hand make Christmas cards. 50-75. Every year. I started in Sept. They were ready to mail the day after Thanksgiving. Know how many I received? 3, maybe 4. I get that a lot of people don't send them any longer. So I made note of who even thanked me for or acknowledged they received it the card. Maybe 10 people. Hint taken. I finally stopped altogether about 6 years ago. I send none. I receive none.

I do! I just mailed them today. I'm British, but I live in the States, so I mail back to my family - 20 cards. Within the US, I send about another 30. My husband is retired military, so we have family and friends all over. I like to do it.

We design a ridiculous family card every year. Send about a hundred and twenty. Get about ten or fifteen in return, and that’s totally fine. Cards aren’t everyone’s thing, and we do get a kick out of seeing ours on everyone’s fridge for the next year.

I enjoy sending cards, so I still send out about 30-35, friends and relatives. I used to send about 45, but things happen. And until a few years ago, I would get about 20 or so sent to me. Now it seems that I get fewer than 10. But I'm sending them out anyway!

My wife takes a lot of pleasure sending cards. She sends maybe 30 and she orders unique cards from Etsy. She does my family too, which I appreciate. She doesn’t care about getting any back, she just likes writing them.

I started sending cards when I got married 4 years ago. I used to get only a couple before I sent my own. Now I get about 15ish, I send about 40. I like the tradition. Not everything has to be on social media.
