Drone swarms over NJ past 2 weeks and right this moment. FBI is investigating. Do we have any thoughts or theories? This is national news now.

This video was taken about 8:30 PM in Randolph, NJ tonight. They have been flying for about 2 weeks and can be seen regularly if you live in Morris County. They are very larger and fly in swarms. Some fixed wing and some quad style.
Does anyone know if they are sending helicopters to follow them or anything like that? I don't see much on flight radar. Super fascinated by this!

Many of those drones were poaaibly looking for a one or many radiation source.
ProfessionalAd8288@reddit
Yeah. They say it's not foreign or criminal.... Appears that the police are not in Tha know. So that leaves the government in my mind. So either they are full of shit.... Or.. Full of shit!
organiccigs@reddit
I live and work as a flight instructor in this area. I fly over Morris County every single night, and never seen anything out of the ordinary the past few weeks. Come to think of it, it’s very possible one the videos is just of me in my 172 doing turns around a point around some random person’s house one night. Every single light I’ve seen was easily tied to an ADSB target, never anything that wasn’t. Every video I saw was either of an airplane being vectored into MMU, TEB or EWR, or a helicopter. NJ state police has a bunch of helicopters, especially around Somerset where one is based. I don’t get it.
PurpleSagi@reddit
I’m in Warren county. Saw 6 drones tonight circling. Definitely not planes. Definitely drones
Bullfr2121@reddit
I'm in Branchburg and they are all over every night...100% drones and not an airplane. I live a mile from Solberg Airport and I'm used to all the small planes coming and going. These are a few hundred feet up and will hover or make quick turns like drones do...they are close enough to see what they are.
FBI knows what's going on, but probably can't release info yet. My bet is security prep for the incoming administration (my last comment was deleted for mentioning his name). Look at the areas they are in...from Solberg Airport (helicopters and osprey land there constantly when he is in town), Bedminster, up 287 to Morristown (where Airforce One lands). Picatinny is an arsenal, could be doing surveillance there too.
I think they are pretty cool. Most of the town hates them though.
burn_a_miracle@reddit
If the "drones" are a few hundred feet up and close enough to see what they are, why has there been zero video clips showing that and dozens of video clips of regular commercial planes and bizjets at a few thousand feet up, going into EWR, MMU, TEB and other area airports? You can literally see the landing lights illuminating the sides of the fuselage and engine cowlings, along with the tail logo lights on some clips.
calvincloud9@reddit
Because these people are stupid and come to the conclusion of other stupid people instead of pulling up flight radar to see the commercial airplane
Bullfr2121@reddit
Pull up flight radar all you want, but when it shows 3 planes in the area and I'm looking at 6 flying objects, it doesn't add up.
thebug21@reddit
If they have ADS-B signature, how do we not know what it is, registration, owner, country, etc? Why would a “bad guy” transmit that signal ? News is saying they can’t be tracked on radar. Cool, too low, I get it. But I didn’t think bad guys had ADS-B or IFF stuff. (I just know enough basics to know I don’t know anything, which is the reason for my questions)
elbatotable@reddit
My new working theory: there are 6 DOE national laboratories in that area: NJ, NY, WV, PA, DC, VA. Assuming that their operations include the transport of radioactive material to and from eachother, I'm reminded of the Radio Active Capsule Incident in Australia early last year. Perhaps they are controlled by various contractors and/or Government agencies. The lack of proper/transparent coverage would be an attempt to quell mass hysteria and the night time flights simply due to less congested airspace?
jonthememer@reddit
Almost looks like an airplane navigation lights. OMG PLANES FLY AT NIGHT!!!
Hownowbrowncow1982@reddit
What's the take on Elon Musk's drone peddling against Boeing. Didn't he say unmanned aircraft like drones were the future of american defense? And what about that new jersey native- that astronaut/military tech dealer who went to space? Who is slated to lead NASA. Am I wearing a tinfoil hat? And his beef w FAA and starlink controlling the satellites inches Ukraine? I have so many questions, too.
DankVectorz@reddit
I’m atc for that airspace and we haven’t had anything unusual reported so they must be down low
chasepsu@reddit
My speculation is that it has to do with the ZNY 241125-251124 Picatinney Arsenal UAS Only TFR. 0 - 2000' AGL and is located like 5 miles north of Randolph, NJ.
DropRealistic1597@reddit
I live <1 mile from the Arsenal, and have no idea why there's seemingly zero attempt to intercept and/or take down and/or track these drones. They're not small, and it's been going on for over a week. The FAA slapping a "No flight zone" over an area that should have already been a "no flight zone" after the FAA denied the drones even existed for the first few days is plenty of evidence that the local government has no realistic action plans in place. What if the drones were carrying dangerous payloads?
NachoNachoDan@reddit
I lived near the arsenal in the 90s and early 2000s. Back then they were doing a lot of testing of missile guidance systems there. Something tells me that unless they were cool with it Picatinny would be taking those out.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
The obvious answer would be that the military not only knows about them but is the one flying them for whatever reason. It could be a test for some new tactic or even new drones themselves. That is likely the reason for flying them at night as well, since some dumb ass civvy wouldn't be able to snap a photo and expose the newest toy. They still have lights to make sure civilian aircraft don't accidentally hit them. The military wouldn't go telling everyone about what they are developing and they wouldn't be on flight apps or lists either. That's my take on it.
Haunting-Charity-243@reddit
Don’t know how true it is but I’ve been hearing they are our governments drones and they are searching for nuclear materials supposedly 80 dirty bombs went missing from somewhere one of which is believed to be on the east coast and they are trying to track it down before it’s set off hence nothing being done about them but who knows
Lonely_Ad4551@reddit
Although of all the places to test drones, why NJ? Wouldn’t Edwards AFB or the Nevada ranges be better?
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
Because none of those other bases have civilian airspace traffic is my guess.
Here's the thing... Say you were developing a drone system to monitor an area or maybe look for other drones or even other aircraft. You wouldn't test them in an area with no civilian traffic, because you need to have the drone be able to distinguish civvy traffic from "hostile" air traffic. Or pehaps you are testing sensors on a known working drone platform, like LIDAR/thermal/radar/etc, to look for people inside structures. You don't test that in the middle of nowhere.. you test that in real world conditions.
This is all pure conjecture, but I find it much more plausible than some sneaky group chinese/russian/bad-guys are flying spy drones around with freaking lights all over them (and the military doesn't know what they are), don't you?
PracticallyRealistic@reddit
I think it was stated that it’s not the army. The other day one of the drones stopped a medical evacuation by getting in the way of a helicopter, Near the community college.
DropRealistic1597@reddit
Obvious to someone who seemingly feels they're above "some dumb ass civvy" I suppose...it would also be obvious to anyone that reads the news that the FAA first came out saying "There are no drones" ... then declaring a "No flight zone" over a Military Research Facility...which if I understand correctly ALL active military sites are a No Flight Zone. The first night it happened local state troopers sent in a helicopter but there was no update on what they saw...only that they had to leave to refuel (and these drones were there for nearly 2 hours).
If the obvious answer is "a test for some new tactic or even new drones themselves" then why would the Military Facility, local PD, FBI, and FAA all be asking the community for help finding out more information?
The only thing obvious here is that we have a laughable response to a very realistic potential threat that sits in our US airspace without any concern...this has been going on for over a week. I'm VERY close to the Military Facility and can tell you these drones come within 1 mile of the base itself, and fly right above the tree line.
https://www.foxnews.com/video/6365628714112
This was put up today. I've heard helicopters more recently at night, but having no clue where large drones are coming from is extremely concerning. Our best defense is to "report it" to agencies that do nothing. If I had guarantees that there would be no legal repercussions, I'd literally crash my own drone into it while over an open area then let the authorities take it from there.
TikiMom87@reddit
If it’s a testing exercise and they’re trying to avoid civilian aircraft wouldn’t it make more sense to do it at like 3 am instead of 7, 8, 9 pm?
MCPPE@reddit
Also how hard could it possibly be for the FBI to figure out where the drones are returning to?!
chasepsu@reddit
My understanding is that the TFR is to facilitate the Army’s use of drones over Picatinny for whatever purposes.

DankVectorz@reddit
Nope no change here except a lot more planes reporting getting flashed with lasers
StandOutLikeDogBalls@reddit
So what is the general consensus now?
DropRealistic1597@reddit
How. This has been going on for over a week. The first time we heard it, there was a report that an NJ State Trooper helicopter was sent in, but had to leave to refuel. You can see them hovering nightly now, with the distinct drone sounds. If this is some kind of malicious "test of our response to drones" it BLOWS MY MIND that the response is "We need help from the community to track these things down".
BAN_MOTORCYCLES@reddit
based on a news report linked below my conclusion is that this is normal air traffic that is being misidentified
https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/comments/1h65gwr/comment/m0feovk/
jayraypaz@reddit
Some reports are - you can clearly tell some videos are planes. Sounds like a plane flys like a plane. But the ones hovering have a drone sound and are HUGE and hover. It’s very clearly not a plane. They’re the size of cars
frigiddesertdweller@reddit
Do y'all have air taxis yet? Or will you have them soon? Phoenix will have them by the end of next year and IIRC LA already uses some
bookkinkster@reddit
My mom keeps seeing them over her house!
BAN_MOTORCYCLES@reddit
then stop telling stories and post a vid that clearly shows what you are claiming
Specific-Buffalo370@reddit
I'm sure some are DEFINITELY being misidentified but my neighbor said they were hovering around the neighborhood. my dad even saw a video the guy took of it over our house and it wasn't that high up. that's not normal air traffic.
Ill-Bee8787@reddit
What type of sight do you have on drones in your airspace? Are you able to see a drone on radar if it were to get near an airport?
DankVectorz@reddit
If it’s big enough?
jayraypaz@reddit
They’re the size of a car
DankVectorz@reddit
Then they’re too low for radar
Ill-Bee8787@reddit
How big is big enough?

Lower than any of my traffic anyway which lowest they’d be in that general area is 2000’

Own-Let2789@reddit
There are dozens, if not more. They have been circling my town for days. I have been able to see 5-8 at a time going by for the last 3 hours. They are almost as big as a Cessna. I’ve never seen or heard of anything remotely like this. I can’t even describe how freaky this is.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
Well, if there are lights on the drones, then there's nothing secret or nefarious going on. Nothing to worry about, so just enjoy the show.
Lonely_Ad4551@reddit
The point is that the government is unable or unwilling to provide an explanation. That is the concern.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
That's not a concern. That's how it's always been with military testing. Do you think they explained why the desert was closed off for project Manhattan? Or those wierd black diamond looking "UFO's" when they were testing the F117? Or the SR71? Or a bazillion other government projects that have kept this fucking country safe for the last 75 years??? Are you you an imbecile or just naive/young? Those projects were kept secret for a reason. When civvies see your secret shit, you lie and obfuscate to keep the specific details away from enemies. It's frankly stupid not to keep secrets.
Drone or whatever projects, need to be tested in areas that are not controlled sometimes. You have to know how your device/software is going to react is specific environments and that includes cities/active airspace/etc. You don't have to like it, but it's true.
I'm not necessarily saying the things you are seeing are indeed a military project, but that's what sounds the most likely. The military knows what is happening in every inch of our airspace. Bet on it. If they're not scrambling, I'm not worrying. A bird doesn't fart in US airspace without the military knowing it's immediate course, location and type. That's also VERY likely why you've never seen a drone attack here. They have countermeasures already in place. Flip a switch and every drone falls from the sky type of thing. Not even that hard to do. The right jamming and poof. You can literally DIY such things.
Bottom line (TL;DR): The military has always kept secrets for national security- that's the right thing to do. And, if it's not them and they aren't scrambling to intercept it, I'm not going to be overly concerned about it and neither should you.
SeparateFisherman993@reddit
They are flying all over civilian areas ffs this isn't the Mohave desert. They are obviously lying by omission for reasons unknown. The lack of explanation from gov officials to very concerned us citizens is VERY unnerving to normal people of any type. A simple "we have investigated the drones and found they are just private citizens flying their drones in a lawful way, no reason to be concerned!" type of explanation would go a long way. The gaslighting is what bothers me the most
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
Just because the sheep panic, doesn't mean it's dangerous or needs to stop. The sheep just need to settle down and go back to their memes and reality TV.
Illustrious_Watch625@reddit
When the military is doing “secret” testing they have already spoken to the right people beforehand and a cover up story is leaked near immediately and the federal authorities immediately step in and confirm said cover up to some degree to prevent panic and curiosity so they don’t end up with thousands of extra eyes looking to the skies. But so far no one has any confirmation on who they belong to and what they are doing in several suspect areas. While some of these sightings are clearly just planes being misidentified as drones either intentionally or accidentally there is no doubt some suspect activity is going on.. The belief our government would allow this to turn into big time news bringing many more eyes to the sky’s all because they decide to test a “top secret drone project” over very populated areas in plain sight is actually laughable.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
It could very easily be drone detection and countermeasures they are testing, and not the drones themselves. If that's the case, the drones aren't the secret at all and they wouldn't give two shits about people seeing them (hence the lights). The military *is* currently testing a new drone detection and countermeasure in that exact area. The average joe doesn't know this, but it is the case. The sightings that are confirmed to be drones (99.9% of the sightings are actually just perfectly normal commercial airliners and helicopters seen from further away than they appear to be, BTW), could easily be their test targets for night detection and that would make perfect sense. You would need to test the detection system in live airspace to verify the system doesn't give false positives (e.g. to make sure it doesn't see airliners/helicopters/etc as drones). There is precedent for testing over populated areas. It has happened several times in the past, so it's not that unusual. People just never really look up, which is why they are freaking out over stars and airliners thinking they are drones. It boggles the mind how many drone reports are actually just stars recently.
Miserable_Meeting_26@reddit
Brother, it’s aliens. They’ve been telling us it’s going to happen for years now.
Most people just don’t care or just plain don’t want it to happen.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
LMFAO! Funny.
8_guy@reddit
There's no precedent for this type of activity, large in scale, weeks long, significant media attention as well as questions from federal agencies. It just doesn't make sense. That's why people are concerned.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
No precedent? Are you serious? LOL. There's a ton of precedent. Read an American history book. The sheer number of "UFO" sightings that were eventually shown to be black projects, says you're wrong. That shit still happens to this very day.
It's not that I don't want to think about it. Not at all. I just know better than to freak out and panic over nothing but speculation.
Lonely_Ad4551@reddit
The lesson from the history books seems to be that you can only keep a secret so long in a (relatively) free society. Overall, that is a good thing.
8_guy@reddit
With the important caveat that, while complete secrecy is somewhat impossible for anything of scale in a free society, you can still keep people in denial of the truth. That's what has happened with the UAP issue so far, we've had so many decades of people in high places spilling the beans.
Intelligence found the hack though, you just stigmatize the topic as early as possible and ensure it's ridiculed institutionally using your influence. Once you do that people start being comfortable overlooking the vast majority of evidence, and many won't ever reassess their view unless major institutions tell them to.
Ihaveblueplates@reddit
Yeah and they’re not doing that this time. This time they’re telling people they have a reason to be concerned and stating publicly that they are as well
8_guy@reddit
Who do you mean by "they" because the FBI has never been connected to anything UAP related if that's what this is. Local law enforcement is 100% in the dark about what's happening, and probably federal too this is an intelligence or military matter. They legitimately don't have the answers and they're concerned, idk if you've noticed but most of the statements I assume you've read telling people to be concerned are local police chiefs.
Ihaveblueplates@reddit
Im referring to the fact that Robert Wheeler Jr., Assistant Director of the Critical Incident Response Group for the FBI told the house yesterday afternoon that they don’t know what they are and that they cannot rule out nefarious intentions.
8_guy@reddit
I'm sorry I have better ways to use my time than explaining this :)
Ihaveblueplates@reddit
They don’t continue to test things in public once they’ve been discovered tho. It makes no sense to keep this behavior up, move on to new locations - like it’s happening in staten island now - when the public is constantly documenting it, posting it all over the internet and the media, getting people upset about it. It makes no sense to do anything that draws attn to their operations and creates a panic
Accurate-Resort2294@reddit
Yeah just like they knew about the Chinese spy balloons. I hear what you’re saying and in past times I’d agree but there’s a lot that we don’t know, and it’s clear there’s a lot the government doesn’t know

The mystery of the unidentified drones deepened Tuesday, as federal officials admitted during a congressional hearing that despite repeated assurances from Gov. Murphy and other public officials, they can’t say definitively whether the drones pose a threat.
“There is nothing known that would lead me to say that but we just don’t know and that’s the concerning part,” Robert Wheeler, assistant FBI director, said during the congressional hearing.
0000100101001010101@reddit
The FBI and police are not actually concerned. The Pentagon spokeswoman is also not concerned, although they did just give a classified briefing to folks on "The Hill" . If they genuinely were, they would pick up the phone and call the FAA for answers PDQ. This whole thing is some kind of pys-op. Weird AF! And the "press" are 100% complicit, or they would have called the FAA and gotten an actual answer PDQ too. Based on recent D.C. "hearings", my best *guess*, is that the incoming admin is trying to generate anti-drone hysteria for the purpose of massively increasing spending on drone tracking capabilities. Maybe they don't want video evidence of the fight clubs in the desert camps?? Also, Rep. Jeff Van Drew, is a big fat liar. The Iranian "mothership" is is in Iran. https://youtu.be/hTpYN70tZ6Y - Question: Why hasn't the FAA commented?

But they have lights, so it's impossible for them to be malicious. Case closed guys, nothing to worry about.

Honestly reading the replies here I fully believe that’s all it would take.
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
Well, it's not aliens for a fact, and probably not adversaries or the military would kill them immediately (we have pretty advanced anti-drone countermeasures and you can bet your ass we also have the capability to detect, track and identify anything in the air larger than a mosquito.)
If the military didn't trigger countermeasures (and they didn't) then that means they know what they are and don't have a problem with them, so neither do I.
Firm_Tomato_5528@reddit
Are you serious? They're the size of suvs, regular civilians don't have the money for these....also fighter jets were seen flying with them...they're unidentified....and they're hiding who they really are....use your last two brain cells
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
I said the exact same thing...civvies cannot afford a drone that size. However, if they weren't shot down, they weren't a problem - either they belonged to the military or the military knew what they were. It's not some random people screwing around.
evaoravitz@reddit
They are flying over houses and hovering for hours at a time. They've also been spotted over important areas of infrastructure. This is actually pretty spooky.
Cameragirl099@reddit
so if they are as big as a Cessna, why can't they use radar to track them?
Own-Let2789@reddit
Apparently they are flying too low. They are also not all of them are quite that big. The fixed wing one that flew right over my house looked close in size (we have a small airport .5 miles away so I see small planes daily and these are not them) but it was dark and depth perception is hard but it was easy to tell these are much larger than what you’d expect a hobbyist to have. There are many more quad helicopter-like ones (I don’t know what they are called) which are probably slightly smaller than a small plane but they were very numerous, higher latitudes than you’d expect from hobbyist drones, still quite visible despite that, and loud and can be seen from pretty far away. This is clearly coordinated, involves several dozens of these, they look extremely expensive, and they are appearing over multiple areas simultaneously for hours on end. It’s freaky. It’s not normal. It’s definitely what I would refer to as a “swarm” not “just a couple drones.”
Right-Beat-5697@reddit
do they sound like airplanes? i’m in wv and there’s been these plane noises for a while and then the navy was flying around yesterday
Own-Let2789@reddit
Sort of. They sound more like air plane sound effects from WW1 movies. So like small planes but also a little different. We have a small airport near us so I’m use to hearing prop planes but these are not exactly the same sound. They are gone now apparently went to south jersey.

If you were up to no good, it is a lot harder to get caught when you blend in or don't seem suspicious because you aren't acting out of the ordinary. Usually, most robberies and crimes start quietly and "normally," which does not alarm or tip anyone off. I'm not saying they are up to no good, but the point being that just because they have flashing lights doesn't mean they are up to no good.

OP didn’t expect to have his logic questioned in this sub 😅

People don't know what's going on and it makes them uncomfortable. They end up lashing out a bit in their dismissal of the topic.
Miserable_Meeting_26@reddit
By ‘people’ you mean the FBI and military? Because that is who is saying they don’t know what’s going on.
Whether you believe them or not is beside the point.
If they are lying, why? If they are telling the truth, it should concern every American citizen the most powerful country on earth can’t answer to crafts in its own skies over critical infrastructure.
8_guy@reddit
No I mean regular people encountering the topic like the other commenter talking about logic being questioned. It's a really odd situation without any answers that seem realistic (IMO), and there's a type of person that gets uncomfortable at that and starts ridiculing other people or being condescending without a real reason..
I think the way everything has played out it's either something anomalous and they just don't have anything that can be publicly admitted, or it's some extremely unlikely situation where it's us, I don't think it would go like this with any adversary technology because it'd look so bad in retrospect (among other reasons).
Impossible to know who knows what but as always there will be some portion of intelligence/military who have a much clearer picture of what's happening.
GetOverIt90@reddit
Yeah exactly! You’re dead on. One thing though, they let that damn Chinese balloon fly pretty much over our entire continent and they didn’t seem to care how bad it looked in retrospect. But this is a different situation entirely.
8_guy@reddit
They tracked that balloon all the way from it's launch point in Hainan, and it was prevented from transmitting any data on its flight. NORAD released this info after everything happened

In the EU, modern drones must have positions lights and a night strobe. It can’t be turned off. Maybe there are similar rules in the US.
But you can still smash ‘em’ with a hammer I guess.
ElectricalTrip3997@reddit
If they were up to no good they could also make the lights stationary. In the dark the avg person would think they’re stars. I swear some of the “stars” look as if they’re moving in a hovering motion& low as anything. I also see a trail that’s following some of the larger drones that are going over my house
JeffreyBomondo@reddit
These are the size of vehicles - that’d be a big hammer
deadgirlrevvy@reddit
The lights are required here too for drones over a certain size. However, it's a trivial matter to disable them if you are up to no good. Absolutely no reason NOT to disable them if you want to do some nefarious shit - it would take like 2 minutes to accomplish.

Listen up, you cosmic chumps: we’ve never been alone. Not for a second. The big reveal’s coming, and it ain’t just aliens knocking on the door. It’s bigger. Badder. We’re eternal. Death? A joke. A curtain drop in the never-ending show. One minute you’re here, the next you’re backstage in the great cosmic theater, waiting for your next role. Life? It’s not a straight line—it’s a goddamn Möbius strip.
And now, the Möbius strip’s twisting over Jersey. Drones zipping through the night like they’ve got secrets to spill, and orbs—those glowing, silent bastards—floating above the Pine Barrens, watching, waiting, daring us to look up and connect the dots. It’s all there in the New Jersey sky: the cosmic breadcrumb trail, the neon sign flashing Wake Up, Earthlings! These aren’t your kid’s RC toys. These drones don’t buzz—they hum, like they’re tuned into some frequency our brains can’t process. And the orbs? They’re the real deal. Pure energy, pure intent, glowing like they’ve got the whole universe mapped out, and we’re just a footnote in their cosmic diary. Jersey’s sky is the stage tonight, and the show’s just getting started.

Most of my career has involved flying commercial UAVs (drones).
Why I am not worried:
This has happened before in 2020 with no doomsday scenario and a very anticlimactic ending - https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/next/mysterious-drones-over-colorado-what-we-know-what-we-dont/73-d5aa5c5a-bfbb-4e03-a882-00a2ea0e6a00
All the aircraft I have seen are well lit with what looks like systems that comply with the Part 107 lighting requirement to be authorized to fly drones at night. I would not think someone with malicious intent would follow FAA Part 107 authorization requirements...
The aircraft I have seen are flying what looks like a set path, ie. not erratically. This is common for something like data collection for collecting data on infrastructure, vegetation, insurance etc. It is also used for testing systems that detect drones.
A lot of people have drones sitting in their basement from their uncle who gave it to them for their birthday, news is exploding with drone stories creating a lot of copy cats.
No, they will not shoot them down. It is dangerous and there is no evidence that the activity is malicious. Many drones are powered by LiPo batteries which explode in flames if ruptured which could easily light a house on fire. Keep in mind shooting a drone classifies as shooting an aircraft, which is a federal crime (also some of these videos are obviously helicopters with a pilot and potential passengers inside).
Impressive_Fox_2852@reddit
There actually is something very strange going on here, let me references a few interesting facts: First, they are large and can fly for 6-7 hours. Now, this pretty much rules out electric power, it’s not efficient enough to keep something like a car-sized drone aloft for that long, so that brings us to alternate power. Can you make a long-flying drone using a fuel-burning motor? Sure you absolutely can do that. However, the catch is that it will emit a whopper of a heat signature. Now here is the clincher, the part that has me worried. The Feds have already given the NJ State Police the best portable drone-detecting night-vision system they have. It is highly sensitive to infrared heat signatures. So guess what folks? These things are NOT emitting heat signatures. Now how in the hell are they flying for that long without burning fuel and emitting huge infrared trails? And on top of that, no they emit detectable radio signals. And, they also haven’t been able to detect them on radar yet either, although the DoD is now sending NJ an even more sensitive radar detector. These are clearly not drones as we know them. They are acting in very strange ways. So this is getting really weird and freaky now folks

Look at H.R. 8610 which is a bill to extend an expiring federal drone law on December 20th. I'm 99% sure these are US Government drones meant to scare people and the authorities into supporting that bill. Why? Earlier this year there was a bill to ban Chinese drones used in law enforcement that was widely opposed (H.R. 2864 by Elise Stefanik) because of costs associated with replacing the primary Chinese drone manufacturer, DJI. Needless to say the new bill H.R. 8610 would ban drones used by companies like DJI for law enforcement use. Hence the need to scare the public into pressuring law enforcement to support this bill which is really just a rehashed bill that was opposed by law enforcement earlier. The more I look into this it looks like a PsyOp. The timing is to coincidental to be anything else. It just makes too much sense, and why no media outlet is discussing H.R. 8610.

They’re over England now as well. Or they have been since November. So whoever is Surveilling us is also Surveilling our allies. Except England is actually doing something to stop them. SkinDue6001@reddit
FAA law is that all legal drones have on board tracking. These are not "their parents' drones".
Sadie_348@reddit
You think they can’t get around that? lol. They’ve done it before. You’re being paranoid and are desperate for some dramatic scenario
SkinDue6001@reddit
That's my whole point. If these were being flown legally, they would be tracked. They can't disable the tracking without the FAA knowing it. These drones are different than the ones that citizens have access to.
Sadie_348@reddit
You’re very naive

What we will eventually find out is that the federal government has been flying covert drones to spy on us. This is only explanation as to why they are acting clueless. Our civil liberties are under constant attack by feds who abuse authority. Remember when the FBI was caught with FISa information gathering of innocent civies. If they can spy on us they will, even if they don't have the legal authority to do so. Now I'll tell you why. Because of their failures of 9/11. Because they failed to do their job even though they were told by their own people that the attack was imminent. Remember John O'Neill.

They have been flying over the USA and other NATO countries infrastructure for a month. The number of drones spotted seems to be increasing. There was footage of one on YouTube shooting a laser and another one shooting down some type of liquid. I’m not sure how credible the sources are of the videos. When people try to take pictures of it with their drones, the private drones battery is depleted and it falls to the ground, according to YouTube. We don’t really know fact from reality but I feel the government knows more than they are disclosing at this time. There may be a reason(s) to wait to disclose it. Hopefully, we’ll get more answers from the drone that crashed. I think waiting to disclose information, allowing them to fly in no fly zones, reports of them becoming more aggressive feeds anxiety. Thank you for your post. It helps me to see other people’s perspectives and comments. I picked a bad week to take vacation because I have spent too much time watching information on it,
SkinDue6001@reddit
Yeah, there's nothing fake on YouTube.
TrainingTough991@reddit
I agree. That’s why I hope the government provides more information soon. They are probably in the process of fact checking prior to disclosure but the wait for information is what is fueling anxiety.
caspeus@reddit
Seeing reports they are now spraying chemicals trails. The explanation given by FBI is an absolute joke. This is 100% US drones. My guess at this point is we are detecting and trying to counteract some airborne threat (virus? chemicals? disease?). What they don’t want is a mass hysteria of people swarming to leave the area. Also the confusion created over the Iran ship seems more like a distraction to steer eyes away from the truth. Same with the UFO talk

Ok so it's not Russia, China, Iran ect. It's "not the military". It's not some group of yahoos having a laugh. It's not aliens using propeller driven aircraft. It HAS to be the government. kevineslinger@reddit
I just asked ChatGPT to search for the major countries that are oddly silent on the US Drone issue. This is what it wrote: A review of global media reporting on the drones seen over the United States shows significant variation in coverage among countries. Major outlets in the U.S., UK, Israel, and Australia have reported on these incidents, linking them to potential espionage or unidentified activity near military bases. However, some nations appear notably quiet on the subject.
Countries such as Russia and China, which often comment on U.S. national security matters, have offered little to no official commentary in mainstream or state-affiliated media. This silence is notable given China’s historical connection to earlier surveillance issues, such as the balloon incident in 2023. Furthermore, media coverage from Iran also seems subdued, focusing more on regional events rather than these U.S. drone sightings【48】【49】.
This lack of response from these countries could be strategic, aiming to avoid drawing attention to any involvement or concerns about accusations of espionage. However, it might also reflect a deliberate decision to prioritize other issues in their media narratives. This is speculative and would require further analysis of these nations’ internal media and governmental priorities to confirm.

I think it's odd that Elon Musk has been hinting about manufacturing drones, then a few weeks ago talks about the alleged superiority of drones over fighter jets ... then shortly after, a bunch of drones show up in NJ, initially over his buddy's golf course. Seems like a stunt he would pull.

Key-Application-7642@reddit
If it’s the feds why are they knocking in peoples doors asking for information?
papillon-and-on@reddit
There are multiple federal agencies. And they have no requirement to share info. My take is that it's "the military" - not sure which branch, or if it's a special project - and the FBI and local plod are left in the dark on purpose. I don't find that at all surprising.

Look at what's happening in the UK...bases being swarmed for days now. Redeploying all kinds of British troops to try and track down the threat, and protect the base. That's considering it a credible threat, and yet those drones haven't been intercepted yet.
sharkbait1999@reddit
This is very different from the UAPs in the uk tho. These guys got navigational lights lol
quietflyr@reddit
First, it's disingenuous to call the drones in the UK UAPs. We know what they are. We don't know who's operating them and for what purpose.
Second, there are valid reasons to have lights on UASs in an operation like this. It tells everyone "we're here, and nobody is doing anything about it!"
Impossible_Net3648@reddit
If we know where they are, why in the hell can't we get a brilliant perfectly clear video?
anathemastudio@reddit
Hey guys, I just joined. I live in NJ and have been watching the "drones" and saw that what appears to be the same thing was over DC and US RAF base Lakenheath near Thanksgiving (around same time they first appeared in NJ). They look the same to me.
I don't think it's Russia though because their tech has always been behind ours (no offense meant here). There's been times when Russia couldn't find tech etc in Ukraine, but yet Russia has these drones? Doesn't make sense. NJ could def be a distraction from UK bases but drones were over DC same wk they started here in NJ and in UK. Maybe it's a global message because we have nuke silos in NJ and bases like what their flying over in UK.
I don't know a lot of facts or even well supported theories about UAPs but I totally believe in them. Statistically even it wouldn't make sense if we were the only "intelligent " creatures in the universe.
Given all that, and the OP, what do you think is happening? Do you think it's a government doing this or something else and why?

heinzw50@reddit
I'm in morris county. Anybody who thinks these are "innocent drones" with no malicious intent needs a reality check. They're scoping out military sites and infrastructure. There are far too many and too frequent to be drones just "cruising around". I don't believe the government doesn't know what they are. Let's remember the Chinese spy balloon that our government denied for weeks what it really was. They better wake up real quick cause if it's another country then they're scoping out for something big. It's becoming like a normal sight here it's like oh yeah there's another one (or group).
bastian74@reddit

No they actually can’t do any of that lol they don’t know who the operators are
fstlover33@reddit
You live on the approach path for one of the busiest airports in the country, and you have another fairly busy regional airport nearby. They're planes.
Next time you see something like that pull up FlightAware or Flightradar24 and you can confirm it for yourself. Around 8:30pm tonight there were at least a half dozen planes passing by just south of Randolph at 4000-5000ft, which matches perfectly with what we see in your video.
frankling426@reddit
They are not planes lol where do people come up with this shit
nosey_in_nj@reddit
There were definitely drones all over Nj last night. I can tell the difference between a drone and a plane, especially using my binoculars. Planes have red light on left wing. Also you hear a plane. These had no noise and flew very different than a plane.

DropRealistic1597@reddit
Only at night? The military research facility has asked the public if they have any helpful info to track the drones down.
HisaP417@reddit
They’re out during the day too. They need to test in all conditions, map terrain and drop locations, figure out delivery logistics, etc. Plus there is less chance of distracting drivers and the “hurr durr shoot them down” crowd interfering at night. The MK30 drones have machine learning. They’re literally training them right now.

I was driving home from work on route 80 tonight and I saw a ton of them. They are flying in all different directions at completely different elevations. One was just floating above tree level. These are absolutely not planes and it’s very ignorant for people to be coming into this thread stating that these are simply just that.
Why would the FBI be getting involved if these are planes? Why would they be flying over no flight zones? Why would these prevent and interfere with a helicopter from landing to help someone in critical condition?
And to say that because there have been multiple sightings over military bases indicates that these are being used for military testing is also absurd. Why send a Blackhawk out (and waste the resources) to search for these objects? Why would the FBI get involved and why would the FAA issue a drone restriction for the affected areas?
This is something that we don’t have answers too and probably won’t get answers too if the government does discover what they are and who is behind it.

All that means is that there was enough outcry for them to investigate, it doesn't mean there's any legitimacy to the claims. Every single video I've seen so far shows typical passenger planes, at typical flight levels, doing typical things. Not a single strange, anomalous object in any of them.

spacecadet2399@reddit
I'm a pilot, so I'm pretty sure I know what an airplane looks like. These "objects" are using standard aviation lighting and appear the normal size and mass of anything else we see in the sky at night.
"Our own government" doesn't know what or where every single airplane in the sky is. Most of northern New Jersey is class E airspace, it's filled with uncontrolled airfields and Randolph looks like it's outside of the Mode C veil so neither a radio nor ADS-B would be required. As a pilot, you're free to roam around these skies without anybody knowing anything about it. That's just reality.

It’s a “false flag” operation to distract from the situation at Lakenheath Air Base in the UK.
If you aren’t familiar, objects have been flying unrestricted over Lakenheath for nearly a week. A no fly zone has been established, a NOTAM has been issued for military aircraft flying without external illumination, fighters are flying with transponders disabled and communications encrypted, and finally SPECIAL FORCES have been deployed. Not to mention the USAF held a briefing with either a 2 or 3 star general where he admitted they don’t know what the objects are at the base. These are the facts.

That always ends well.🙄 I'm seriously trying to make sense of this like everyone else. These type of things always flop. Even though it's all the buzz in DC.

spankeem_nz@reddit
why the hell arent there drone chasers that can scan the airways and determine if they are terrestrial or not
Efficient_Sky5173@reddit
I have a thought: drones are very nice.
fellipec@reddit
Maybe the same origin of the ones that flew over the UK bases...
mag274@reddit (OP)
Also happened over Norfolk VA over the Naval base in December
DoubleThinkCO@reddit
The fact that they are all over bases is a clear indication it is, at worst, a military thing.
fellipec@reddit
If is the same as the UK ones, we can expect no further explanations from nobody.
I really dunno if is foes that are trying to gather intel, if are friendly secret test articles... No idea, but I'm for sure very very curious about those.
cqb420@reddit
I read that they scrambled f-15s in UK which suggested to me they aren’t friendlies

Just reading about that now pretty interesting. Crazy they can't be tracked better
NicknameKenny@reddit
Notice they don't try any of this down South? We'd a shot them things down the second night. Cain't be flyin' no drones over my farm.

What are you going to do? Blast them with poor spelling

I know last week the coast guard and state police had helicopters deployed to try and intercept but they were unable to locate them

Ack! Ack!
Disastrous_Case9297@reddit
It’s the wild west with drones still. So much equipment with no tracking that fly so far past LOS at disposable prices. Of course this is the US and we do such a great job keeping track of our guns, too.
NYPuppers@reddit
As someone that flies near there, it is not so much fascinating as it is concerning.

Fascinating.

Concerning.
Looking into this.

The military helicopter operations in the US cities earlier this year and these UAP operations make perfect sense.
