At a point in my programming learning career where I’m starting to dream in code

Not kidding, what does this mean. Should I be medicated?

Had a dream last night that a client (I worked as a consultant for many years) needed me to immediately respond to a contract offer. I woke up thinking I needed to call him and be ready to fly out to ATL. Wife thought it was VERY funny, said maybe I should call him to say hello anyway. Problem is, I don't have his work cell number any more. Plus the location was moved out of the US to someplace.

I think it’s normal. Important to make sure you also get some rest and don’t write code 24/7 :) and you’ll be fine

Eh it's fine, it happens sometimes. I dream of bloody battles after playing some rough games.

HAHA! I still do this after 40 years of it. I have no idea what it means but there you go!

Been at it for 50 years. Dream about convoluted scenarios, wrong people and odd ball machines.

Dreams are like clearing RAM. It's more complicated than that but your brain is saving and discarding what is repeated and important in your daily learning. It's a form of repair. Being awake kinda... Causes brain damage lol. In dream state your brain is being repaired and solidified which is reinforcing the new connections and making new connections hard to form in that moment. Which is why you can't remember dreams unless you are weird or really practice. Anyway you're ganna be fine

Dude almost every thing I see I think of it as a program and think of if-else statements 😭

Most of my solutions I’ve came up with to complex programming problems I’ve face have either come from a dream or standing in the shower under hot water talking about the problem to myself.

When I was doing my PhD, a lot of my ideas would come as I was sleeping or right when waking up from a nap. Which lead my supervisor to joke "He's the only graduate student I urge to sleep \*more\*." P.s. - My PhD supervisor was a great guy and actually would have urged all of his students to have good work-life balance but it made for a good joke.

wait until you see code when you close your eyes like the Tetris Effect

Dreams are a big part of how your brain processes information and learns. It means you're starting to internalize some of the ideas.

It means u have an active mind, is all. Our mind doesnt go to sleep after all, it just keeps working, usually on things that are bothering us. According to legend, German chemist Friedrich August Kekulé discovered the ring structure of benzene after dreaming of a snake eating its own tail in 1861. I'm sure u will come up with some groundbreaking revolutionary code after u wake up. No pressure.
