Yes. They look just like that, with the shiny coating. I’ve never seen the hostess version in my area.

I'm not sure our were Hostess either. But they were from before that had fat free and no trans fats etc. Back when they were good!

Nooo. Don’t buy the new modern Snackwell. They have changed them in to something horrible that doesn’t even resemble the picture…unless they’ve changed them back. I was fooled by them once!

I think you’re thinking of the cake like cookies that Snackwell ruined! They were just called devils food cookies. Usually on the cheap side price wise. My very favorite snacks and you can’t find them anymore. Snackwell marketed theirs as fat-free and people stopped buying the others so they quit making them. Big surprise! The others are fat free too.

I liked the original charcoal-briquette shape. Idk if the snackwell version tasted different, or if the shape just ruined it. The original red and yellow packaging was better too.

I remember these. Can picture them and everything - soft chocolate cake-like cookie, very thin marshmallow layer, thin chocolate shell coating. Darned if I remember what they were called, though. **Edit:** Found them! SnackWells devil's food cookie cakes. Discontinued several years ago, apparently. **Edit 2:** Damnit, I've been trying to post this for 20 minutes. Apparently, I can't upload a photo despite there being a button for exactly that. My posts keep getting deleted when I try to add an image. No idea why.

I LOVED these damn things. We lived with my grandparents, and Gramma would buy them for Gramma and keep them on top of the refrigerator, and when they'd go out in the evenings when I was very young, I'd climb on the counter to reach the top of the fridge.
