Choosing between Ryzen 7600x and 13600kf

I've decided to update my PC to a newer CPU for gaming, and I bought both when they were heavily discounted since I couldn't make up my mind. One of them is going to be sold on ebay, the other will be used in my new system. I was leaning toward 7600x for its power efficiency, platform longevity, and reliability, but I saw a few benchmarks that have me reconsidering. Specifically, with Call of Duty (Black Ops 6 and Warzone), Veilguard, and Hogwarts Legacy, I've seen some benchmarks that show 13600k with a commanding lead, like a 30% or larger advantage in framerate. I could tolerate 10% for the other advantages I see in the Ryzen, but 30+% in big AAA games would be a different story. However, I'm not entirely sure that these results are all accurate or if there could be other factors involved. Hardware Unboxed, Gamegpu and some other small YouTube channel (I think it was called YouTube centric) was where I saw the tests. Which do you think I should go with?

I am in This exact same boat. The 7600x has a better upgrade path, 13th and 14th gen could be trouble but think I have decided to go with 14600k. I'll take the better performance, also they the exact same price here.

I’m not entirely disagreeing with you but the 14600k only has better performance in some games. In the end, it depends on the games they care most about.

Ye i understand but for me and trust me debated this long. Looked at many many reviews, benches and decided this way, other way is probably smarter for long run but I'll. Juts build new pc. At upgrade time again.as I give my old ones to my son

HUB's 54-game test did put the 7600x ahead on average. LTT's had them neck and neck on average as well. GN and TPU have the 13600K leading. In a choice like this I'd look at performance in a game I'd be spending the most time on and decide based on that.

Are price and upgradability factors?

Price, not really. I already bought them and I'm just figuring out which one to keep. Upgradability, kind of. It would be nice to be able to easily switch to a new CPU in a few years, but if the difference in performance really is around 30% in some of these games then its not as much of a draw.

CoD and Hogwarts are kind of optimized like shit, so I can see the 13600kf getting some extra performance by having more resources (cores) available I'd still take the 7600x for all the reasons you already mentioned.

You can get a 14600k for almost the same price as a 13600k
