Raised southern baptist here too. I ran from home at 17 and never looked back at it or the church again, and the only thing the indoctrination did was make me hate all of it more. My kids have never stepped foot in a church and never will while they’re under my roof. I know all too well what goes on in southern baptist spaces and at this point I distrust the lot on principle. Maybe not the best way to look at it, but it is the best way to protect me and mine from it - distance and knowledge.
