Is asphalt really at its most slick during the first 10 minutes of a rain storm?
murphsmodels@reddit
In Phoenix l, where we go months without rain, asphalt gets very slippery in the first few minutes of a rainstorm. All that oil and tire debris gets pulled out of the asphalt and floats to the surface.
IOrocketscience@reddit
Yes, that's what people say, but that's anecdotal, I want to see it tested scientifically

From a ‘70s Australian cop series called Matlock Police:
The top cop rescued a woman stuck on a hill surrounded by land mines by shoving a log down the hill, which triggered the mines and creating an escape route. After watching Mythbusters, I’m wondering just how plausible that is

Does it take the same amount to force to bite through your finger as it does a baby carrot? This rumor went around the elementary school cafeteria and I’ve always wanted to know but your brain won’t let you test it for real.
