Dallas Bus Station

Crosspost from the Dallas subreddit
Hello everyone, going to be visiting the US for the first time and I will be travelling to Mt Pleasant from Dallas through the greyhound bus at night(7pm).
Reading through some of the older posts about the safety have frightened me a little, so I'd like to know how safe is the bus station and the trip to Mt Pleasant in general. Bear in mind that this is my first trip to the US as well.
Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Oof.
You'll probably be fine. If anything, you may be harassed by a homeless person looking for some change. Your run into someone crapping on the side of a building nearby.
I'd just try to time your arrival during daylight and have your ride already lined up.

Everyone has a different threshold of what we think is dangerous. In your life, are you coming from a country with urban areas where you sometimes have to keep an eye out? Then it's fine. Are you from a country where it's super safe everywhere, like Japan (as I understand it)? Then just keep in mind to be extra cautious.

Is the downtown bus station sketchy, yes it is. Billionaires rarely travel by bus, but poor people do.
That said, I used to work for Greyhound corporate, which is also in Dallas, I was at that bus station hundreds of times as my employee incentive program was housed on the 2nd floor.
Just be aware of your surroundings, ignore the riff raff and go on about your business and you should be fine. Have never been to Mt. Pleasant nor taken a bus trip there, so I have no info on your trip.

Much of what you read on /r/Dallas was written by terrified suburbanites who consider anything that isn’t an Applebee’s in the suburbs “sketchy.”
Just pay attention to your surroundings and you’ll be fine.
