Are pub fights in the UK not taken as seriously as bar fights in the US?

So this is a question I’ve wondered about for a while, but I’ve never had anywhere to bring it up. For context I’m from the US but my wife is British, and we’re moving there in September. Whenever I’ve gone to England, it seems like people are more likely and willing to engage in a pub fight, and that there are WAY less repercussions. In the US, you will get arrested. That’s a given if anyone from the bar sees you fight, unless you are in an incredibly sketchy place where there aren’t any cops. You’ll also be charged with battery and could spend years in jail. In the UK, it seems like the consequences for fighting aren’t nearly as severe, and that the police just take you to the drunk tank. How do you guys feel about this?
