8 years ago, I bought this Acer TravelMate 313T, a fully operational 8.4" laptop that sadly had a destroyed palmrest, and so the left hinge had nothing to connect to. I didn't anticipate at the time that it would take me 8 years to find either the replacement parts, or a donor machine in order to fix it up fully - but I finally found the perfect candidate (another unit with a smashed screen but intact chassis), and now I finally have my baby Acer useable at long, long last.

The TravelMate 313T is quite a rare beast today; there are a handful around, but I can't imagine that many people wanted this form factor in the US or Europe. It has an 8.4" 800x600 screen, and used a 266 MHz Pentium MMX CPU. Games look quite sharp as you'd expect, and even the original battery still holds a decent charge - although it is also tiny, at only 1500 mAh!

If you do get a TravelMate 313T; don't buy one of the many "100% compatible" chargers you find online, as they are always 19V and the TravelMate 313T runs at 16V. It will actually charge off of those (although I wouldn't want to do so for too long!) - but the backlight shuts off. Instead, you can generally get away with using an old 16V ThinkPad charger, which although it doesn't seem to be a perfect fit, does work just fine, and is infinitely easier to source than the Delta ADP-36NB charger that I believe these are supposed to use.
