Need help upgrading

Looking for suggestion on upgrading my PC. Lately some of the games started to shudder and lag, assuming due to the graphics card. I'm not playing any of 4k games or anything on high quality, but for example Throne and Liberty while loading into the game, I have about 2 min window where nothing have textures and its just shapes of white and black. New World does pretty much the same thing, but that already happens at the character selection screen.
Not trying to change the whole PC, since that would be so expensive, and me being active duty soldier is definitely not an option. I understand that storage could be upgraded too, and probably will add that extra M2 2TB SSD in there, but that's not the main priority. Just trying to see what I should upgrade first and to what. I used to know something about computer parts long time ago, but now I don't even have time to keep up with all technologies. Just trying to play my games on my free time in 1080P with 60FPS, and given that new Stalker coming out, I wont be able to play it even on lowest settings with like 10-15 FPS.
My current stats:
CPU: Intel i5-9600K @ 3.70 GHz, 6 Core
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Motherboard: MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC
RAM: Ripjaws G.Skill 16 GB DDR4 (2x8 GB)
Storage: 500 GB SSD / 2 TB HDD
PSU : Corsair HX 1000W
Box: Corsair Obsidian 800D Full Tower
Thank you so much in advance.

If you do anything, Spend a few hundred U.S. on a GPU. The 1060 is a the bottom right in this chart. New gens are further to the left and of course the higher they are on the chart the better they are and the more they cost. :) Good luck
I cann0ot really recommend spending more than a few hundred. The 6 core CPU is dated and with no hyper threading is not going to handle a lot more.

GPU is a problem but the CPU is also getting relatively slow at this point.
Start with a mid-range GPU like the RX 7700XT for $400. If you still get poor performance spend $220 on an R5 5600 + B550 board.'

If your budget is a bit higher you do the R7 5700X3D for $80-90 extra.
