Help Identifying Birthplace of Ancestor?

I am researching my ancestry and am proud to have many ancestors from Hungary. I am trying to learn more about them and am hoping this group can help. One of my ancestors immigrated to the United States in 1907, but I am having trouble identifying his exact place of birth. The ship records for his arrival to the USA list his last known place of residence as Budapest, however, his place of birth looks like "Bayr." (See image below.) I cannot find any city or town by this name... So I am hoping this thread can help me identify what city "Bayr" may be. Perhaps it is misspelling, shortened version of a longer word, or something else?
Also, I must admit that I am not entire certain if my ancestor was born in modern-day Hungary or part of the territories that were the Kingdom of Hungary in 1897 when he was born. Thank you for your help!

If it was not he that filled out the form, but someone filled it out for him after hearing, then all bets are off. You will probably need to find some other documents of his either from before or after arriving in the US.

You should try this on r/csaladfakutatas
They might shortened the name something like ‘Rayr.’ the previous lines would help identify the letters.
