Help Me Remember a Thing

i don't know if this was a regional thing or what as i would have been middle-school aged and we were not very trendy (i never even got a trapper-keeper).
anyway, it was a type of watch, like a sports watch, with a wide cloth or nylon band. i want to say most bands were velcro or something, the watch face was usually a dial; and often, if not always, was under a flap.
this would be around when slap bracelets were popular, right around 90/91. was living in the suburbs of cleveland at the time.

I think you're talking about a flik flak watch https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/136zhz4/flik_flak_watches_from_the_1990s/

definitely not that. what i'm remembering, the band was wider than the watch. my own searches haven't turned up so i gotta wonder if it was just some fever dream.

Sounds like the kind of watch band you can get from Army Navy stores. I have one that I wear when I exercise because it's comfortable.

yah, it was something sorta like that. at least it was designed with a similar vibe. but it's a vague memory from a hazy time.

I had a Timex with a Velcro band in the 90s. I hated how the bad stayed wet for a bit if you splashed when washing your hands. It didn’t have a flip cover, but it’s possible they did have some like that?

And while trying to see if there was another brand it could have been, I came across Gum Watch by Crazy Planet that could fit the bill?

Swatch watch???

That was what I thought at first, but the flap thing doesn't sound like Swatch to me.
But I do vaguely remember some kind of watch with a flip open cover thing like that.
