I have 16GB RAM 2999Mhz which has always been enough. I will being doing a small bit of video rendering, should Increase my 32GB as a minimum?

Now days id never go below 16gb for anything as a bare minimum, and I'd suggest 32 as the normal baseline amount. Personally I have 64gb and I've thought about upping it some day but I use a lot of ram for work and hosting game servers for friends etc

16GB generally good enough. For video rendering a GPU investment is where it’s at

its almost 2025, so yes, i would say 32gb is the minimum, i just upgraded to 64 so i can maybe get another few yrs out of mine before i need to build another

I multitask while editing photos and that takes nearly all of my 32gigs of ram, I'm upgrading to 64, I suggest 64

What are you multitasking? I had a professional commission where I made a Photoshop painting 1:1 scale at 2.6m high x 20m wide at 150ppi and that came to just under 32GB RAM. I think the OP is fine with 16GB, 64GB is overkill in most circumstances. My next workstation will have 64GB and that will be used to create very large format Photoshop work, Unreal Engine 5 VR gallery creation and detailed 3D modelling.
In answer to the OP question - 32GB minimum is not required. But, if they want to then get it......most of the time it won't be used so it will be a waste of resources and money.

I watch YouTube on my second display while editing photos and I'm on discord talking with people at the same time.

For basic office usage, 8gb minimum, 16 preferred For gaming 16 minimum 32 preferred For photo editing 16min, 32 preferred For video editing under 4k, 16min 32+ preferred For video editing at 4k, 32+ min
Any type of rendering for blender, Catia, solid works, etc. 16 minimum for simple structured but in reality 32gb minimum, 64 recommended

If your office job is reading emails and making power points you could probably get away with 4
Springloll@reddit
Lol, true. But with W11 and with many companies running teams, ring central or other voip + outlook + some big office files, 4gb doesn't cut it anymore.
Not to mention users will run spotify or chrome in the background too

Editing video with 16gb sounds like my version of hell, even under 4k
Regular-Library-7056@reddit
I thought 16GB would last for a few more years, until I started learning Unreal Engine. I just upgraded to 32GB, so I recommend 32GB if you can.
For gaming, atm 16gb is good enough I think !

I game but nothing too crazy, 32 GB seems reasonable
Icy_Calendar_7267@reddit
get 32 GB for rendering.

Havent had issues with 16 gigs myself, for gaming and some light video editing
