Ryzen 5600 or 5700x3d for twice the price?

Is it worth it to go for the 5700x3d at 190€ considering I can get a 5600 (non x) for 90€?.
I intend to play stuff that would probably benefit well from the extra cache.
VR, especially VR sim racing, SPtarkov, Stalker anomaly modded to hell, cyberpunk etc.
My r5 2600 already stutters quite a bit in these CPU intensive tasks, the 5700x3d would probably be far smoother, but maybe the 5600 would be a good enough solution for the price?
I am having a hard time justifying the price difference that could be used for something else in the future, like a gpu upgrade, do you think it's worth it?
Gpu rtx 2070 btw.

Unless you also plan on upgrading that, 5600 is more appropriate.

I plan to eventually upgrade to a 4060 ti 16gb, but not so soon.

I would rather you pick 7700xt or 7900gre.

Will depend on prices when the time comes, but I didn't enjoy my amd gpu experience before, had lots of issues with drivers and the power draw also counts.

AMD driver issues were from years ago. they're running totally fine now.

I'm glad. We need more competition. What about DLSS vs FSR today?
ScribbIer@reddit
You can go try it with your current GPU :)
FSR 1 blows, but the more recent versions have been good. Driver level frame generation is also kinda cool and doesn't actually feel too bad the few times I've used it.

5600x will be enough for that too.

Look for a tray cpu on aliexpress. Just make sure the seller is highly rated and it will be ok. Thats how I got mine for a good price

It's more expensive, I would pay around 210eur or more. With extra risk and far worse warranty/ customer support and the possibility of paying extra taxes if the product gets stuck in customs. That doesn't work for me.
TimmmyTurner@reddit
I would pick 5700x3d.
Ive read that you are planning to upgrade to 4060ti 16gb, but 7700xt performs better at $100 cheaper. why not use that $100 on a better CPU instead and get 5700x3d+7700xt?
LotsOfTinyNinjas@reddit (OP)
That's also valid, but I'm not locked into a 4060 ti specifically, was just an example. I will probably sit on my 2070 for a year. I'm fine with it, but my CPU is not behaving so well in some situations with too much AI. That's why my dilemma is between the cheap 5600 or the 5700x3d.
TimmmyTurner@reddit
I personally feel the $110 difference is worth it.
since there isnt anymore upgrade path for AM4, why not just get the better option.
you can upgrade again when AM6 releases

Well, the 5700X3D is not twice as fast, so if you want the best price for performance, the R5 5600 is unbeatable. Now, if you want the best performance for your platform, without the need to change it, get the 5700X3D, since it's not a big expensive in the big scheme of things. For your use case, you'd be happier with the 5700X3D. VR and sim racing are quite a bit faster on the X3D CPUs.
If you really can't justify the expense, the 5600 is still a good upgrade, just not as big, and, right now, the RTX 4070/RX 7800 XT seems about the limit of GPU you can take without starting to limit their potential. With the 5700X3D, even the 4090 is fair game, but of course, maybe you'd never buy a GPU that expensive, so it's your call.

I would personally go straight for the 5700x3d
then you can upgrade to pretty much any GPU and you'll be good.
