Career Crisis Please Help

Hey guys,
I'm gonna be honest: I love aviation more than anything in the world ever since I could walk. I started flight lessons about a year and a half ago and am close to getting my commercial and CFI. I am not going into aviation only for the money, but recently I have been contemplating investment banking and private equity because of the money. I have been speaking to people who are very successful account managers, bankers, private equity managers etc and they have told me that I can make significantly more money in these fields. $500,000-700,000+ if I really put in the work within my twenties.
Of course, I can make $400,000+ as a captain. But I even spoke to a woman who was supposed to be going to the airlines and she decided to keep aviation as a hobby because the money she is making doesn't even compare to a senior captains' pay. She advised that I can always keep aviation as a hobby and make tons of money in a different field.
Now, I get it. Money isn't everything. But it means a lot to me, especially if I can make extremely good money. I'm just in such a hard position because my parents already spent $50,000+ on me for training, but I can't fight this burning desire and feeling that I can make a huge amount of money outside of aviation.
What do you guys think? Are there any pilots here who are/were going through what I am? Or who went into banking, private equity, etc? Is the opportunity really better in these fields?

Bigger issue. You (ahem, wait, your parents) spent $50k and aren’t even at commercial yet?

What do you care?

This entire post feels like rage bait. If you're doing this for the money you're wrong stop flying let someone who cares take your place. If you " love aviation more than anything" this wouldn't even be a question.

That statement right there is ridiculous. I'm not even going to engage.

Does your dad own a bank or hedge fund? Cause if not, someone is bs’ing you.Â

He’s not likely to make it to the 400k+ legacy pay scale if he thinks this is how the world works

my surface level, possibly incorrect knowledge, is that the people being hired in those fields are the top percent of students from T-10 target schools such as the ivies, who maintain a near perfect GPA, and are often math olympiad winners and the like. it is not an easy field to break into and requires a lot of work — hence the salary
