Uncle is delivering a load with alcohol into Maryland. Can’t seem to find any quick ways to get a daily permit

I help my uncle out with his loads sometimes. He picked up a load for Maryland but apparently you need a permit to deliver alcohol into the state. He doesn’t have anything like and assumed it would be easy to get a daily like with other required permits.
But I’m not seeing anything online that could get him a liquor permit. Or at least it’s harder to find. There’s some 12 page paperwork he needs to deliver and wait weeks for before getting a permit but that’s probably for an annual permit.

Dealing with a broker or directly with the customer? They should have your permits for you.

Got it off the CH Robinson load board

Call the broker they will have it for you. Should have been sent with the rate con, or given with the BoL, maybe ask your uncle to check the paperwork or his email.

We’ll have to call tomorow, so far the emails he gave me don’t show anything resembling a permit, but the information in the contract states that a permit is required. Thanks for your help though maybe tomorrow we’ll find out it’s actually provided by the broker

That’s the reason I haven’t yet hauled an alcohol load. Several states require permits to pick and/or deliver alcohol. Plus, you technically need to have insurance to cover an alcohol load in case something were to happen, although the FMCSA might not require it.
