No, I don't think so. Putin said response will be "symmetric", which I take it to mean that he's going to hit as hard as Russia is going to be hit. Therefore he won't use nuclear weapons.

Putin won't do anything that isn't proportionate to whatever the West is using. I don't know why Biden is expecting Putin to suddenly turn into a Bond villain just as he's about to win the war.

It's foolish. Why would Russia use a fucking nuke? That'd be a historic admission of WEAKNESS when on every measure Russia is winning the war.
All Russia has to do to 'make a statement' is to use a hypersonic missile and hit a NATO base. Russia has Avangard hypersonic reentry vehicles that go SO FAST that when they hit they explode with a Hiroshima sized explosion but use a nonnuclear explosion.
So why use a nuke if you have weapons like that in your arsenal?
