Build a PC at this time or wait for new spec leaps? (AM6, LPCAMM2, etc)

As said in the title, I'd like to build a PC but I have the habit of buying the latest stuff, I also don't like missing out on anything that may help my rig's speed in the long term.
I can wait if it's worth waiting for. I genuinely don't know what I should do.
By the way, I have never had a good gaming PC in my life and I've grown sick of the bad low end PCs that I always seem to be stuck with, and now that I have a job as a fresh adult, I'm able to save some cash.

Depends on how much you care about having the latest hardware and how deep your wallet is, I used to do that until things got too expensive for me

If you dont care about waiting. The new Nvidia GPU releases next year. Most likely will make 4k gaming much more feasible. Dont want to wait much longer than buy a 4090. Strongest gpu as of today and can play anything in 4k with good frame rates.

Oh no, I can definitely wait for a few more months for the new generation of GPUs. What I am asking for is if should I wait another 1/2 years or not. Edited my post to make it clearer.

Wait another 1/2 year and then you'll be wondering if you should wait another 1/2 year, then you'll be wondering if you should water another 1/2 year...

and the loop continues....

while (true) { waitAnotherHalfYear(); }

Hey you got it wrong! (i wish it was just half a year)

Nobody knows for sure if it is worth it. Simply because the new GPU has not released yet. Nobody can know the improvements because nobody has the unreleased GPUs or CPUs in their hands to test.
Ask yourself is 4k gaming with 60-100 fps enough for you? In the future the 5090 may only increase to 80-120 fps. Is that worth the wait?
If you’re only playing 1440p then a 4090 can handle that now with no issues. Wouldn’t be worth waiting for the 5090 tbh.

I don't really care about fps as long as it remains at a stable 60 for most games with 1440p for AAA games. thank you.

In my opinion, if you plan to buy AM6, might as well don’t buy anything. I think AM5 B650 and 9800x3d is pretty good value to purchase and settle for 6years kind of purchase.
Blurem27@reddit (OP)
haha nope, am5 it is.
thanks for the advice

AM6 is probably like 3 years off.
Just wait like 3 months and build with a discounted 9800x3d and RTX 5000 or RX 8000.

got it boss, ill make the baddest rig in this town

LPCAMM2 is for laptops and AM6 is likely years away. Meanwhile the currently best gaming processor, 9800x3d just came out, actually exists, and is on AM5. I can understand people who have upgraded AM4 as far as it'll go (5800x3d / similar), for whom that does everything they need, who are waiting for AM6. But if you want a PC and can afford it, I'm not really getting your dilemma.

Cheers, looks like I'm building something in the next few months.

We have no idea if CAMM will even be widely adopted, especially on desktops, and for AM6 you're gonna be waiting at least until 2027.
There's this new ram tech that allows new Intel socket to use 8000+ MT/s sticks but AMD is still faster at 6000 so it doesn't matter.
The only thing that you should care for is new GPUs coming out probably Q1 next year starting with the highest end of course and slowly going down the list. And 9950x3d if you want a gaming workstation.
If you're not aiming for a 5080 tier GPU+(or buying current highend used when 5000 drops) then you probably won't be that bad off buying now.

AM6 is likely to be 2028 or later it seems. The CAMM2 memory spec is probably at least that far out.
