Idk man, there's a case to be made that this is indeed performance art. Sanders supported Genocide Joe enthusiastically before the election, and he probably knew that this bill was doomed to fail.
Fooling the public into thinking the Democrats as a party is something other than an irremediably corrupt instrument of the military industrial complex, serves a particular propaganda role at this time, after being pummelled at the election and needing to ensure dissident voices are shepherded into controllable, mainstream avenues.
Watch for all the things Sanders doesn't say. He will talk a lot about Netanyahu; but he won't talk about the root cause of the violence, which is Zionism itself.
Maybe I'm being too cynical, but after watching them in (in)action for the past few years, I think of people like Sanders and AOC as being nothing more than controlled opposition.
