Good modern daily drivers in 2024?

Curious to get opinions on what current cars you'd consider good buys or cars that stick out amongst the rest. Looking for something preferably less than 10 years old, big enough for a couple and child and preferably not an EV.
I've been looking at Mazda 3s, Corollas, Yaris, Swifts, Jimnys - Just the base models, I'm located in New Zealand where a 2021 Mazda 3 with 30k KM on it goes for about 30k NZD. I've been doing my own research but would like to hear what you guys think are good modern cars.
I'm not being too strict in my search, my only preference is no EVs as I don't have a garage and cant run an extension cable to the street, and something big enough for a couple and a kid, and probably something Japanese or Korean because thats the market here.
If anyone has experience with modern Maz3, corolla, Yaris, swifts etc I'd love to hear your opinions too thanks

Check out the makes and models on something like Edmunds or Consumer Reports. Here you'll get advice of all kinds.
I won't give you advice, but an option I haven't seen mentioned. Depending on your location, a Lexus ES that's a couple years old is a good bet. They are incredibly reliable and tend to have low miles as used cars. Right now, the market seems to be favoring buyers. You can eve go as much as 10 years old and still get a decent vehicle.
It's sexy and practical.

A mazda 3 is good, if you want something really interesting, a WRX, Golf GTI, Civic SI, Kia K5, or Audi/BMW/Acura sedan would suit you nicely, depending on your budget. Plenty of 4 door sporty sedans and hatchbacks to choose from nowadays. Anything that's not an SUV and taken care of well stands out to me, IMO.
