Interesting hooker scene

I'm from out of town and I must say Dallas has a rather unique vibe concerning working girls. I seen a few standing on the sidewalk near Baby Dolls and by the Walnut Inn, but the most interesting scene was at the Paris Bookstore on Harry Hines. I pulled into the parking lot and saw three ladies laughing right by the door, and then I drive towards the middle of the lot and see about 7 or 8 girls in various stripper outfits trying to flag me down while a black female cop was standing about 40 feet away and staring at me with her pistola on the hip LOL. I didn't want to risk anything so I didn't stop to talk to the girls. At the end of the lot, I see a small group of people in normal dress sitting on a truck tailgate while a working girl in black thong and bikini top was talking to them, as if it were a normal hangout kind of thing. I drove away just kinda chuckling at what I just saw. Is all of Dallas like this or just this certain redlight district part of town? I've been to many other cities in the eastern U.S. but never seen a hooker scene like this. Closest thing I can think of is some hookers walking on Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando but even that has dried up for the most part. Overall, I think it's kinda cool that Dallas has a progressive mindset about sex work, which I think should be legalized nationwide as long as proper licensing and disease-screening is part of it.
