Monsterology@reddit
Weekly and I prefer weekly. Who wouldn’t?
kuldan5853@reddit
Me. Monthly is the standard here and it aligns with everything else (almost everything else is paid monthly as well, with a few exceptions which are quarterly, every six months, or yearly)
ForwardNerve5296@reddit
Monthly, in the U.K I'd guess 99% of people in IT are getting paid monthly as well. Is it common to be paid weekly or biweekly elsewhere like the states and other places?
RigourousMortimus@reddit
Paid weekly in Australia
rynoxmj@reddit
Getting paid monthly where I live is illegal. Must get paid at least 24 times a year.
rocky5100@reddit
Yea every 2 weeks, or twice a month is common in the US .
When it's every 2 weeks (26 a year), you get 2 months a year that have 3 pay periods. It's kind of nice if you budget based on 2 pays a month, the 3rd can be used to pay down debt, pad savings, etc.
I'm on twice a month now, so 24 pay periods.
ForwardNerve5296@reddit
Interesting. I've never even considered that other places aren't paying monthly. I reckon payroll in the U.K are just lazy so only want to do it once a month!!
Kerdagu@reddit
Monthly pay is absolutely not normal in the US.
anderson01832@reddit (OP)
Getting paid monthly is very rare in the US
fudgegiven@reddit
Monthly. I get the whole month salary on the 13th.
But why would it matter? If I got paid weekly, it would still add up to the same amount. If I had unhealthy spending habits and burned everything before pay day, maybe weekly would be preferable. Also, when I started the job, weekly could have been nice, again because I was broke.
Surefinewhatever1111@reddit
Biweekly. Have done monthly, not a fan. Weekly when I was temping, also not a huge fan, budgeting was a PITA.
Temetka@reddit
We can’t discuss pay because then a plan will be formed to shit can us while denying unemployment benefits.
stahlhammer@reddit
Semimonthly
stufforstuff@reddit
Does it matter? As long as the year end balance matches your contract who cares what the pay frequency is.
Wildfire983@reddit
Biweekly.
I’ve never heard of a job that didn’t pay biweekly here in Canada.
Exotic-Escape@reddit
Government is typically semi monthly or monthly. Well DND anyways. Otherwise, biweekly seems the norm.
Brilliant-Advisor958@reddit
Semi monthly(15th/last day of month) is pretty common as well. I've only been paid bi-weekly (every 2 two weeks) on one job in my 30 years of working
Miwwies@reddit
I was always paid biweekly. Canada.
Vicus_92@reddit
Paid twice a week!? I want that...
/S
Cyberhwk@reddit
Semi-monthly.
BarracudaDefiant4702@reddit
Bi-weekly is nicer. With bi-weekly we you get lucky a couple times of they year with a third paycheck where they skip a lot of the deductions that is not only an extra check for the month, but a bigger one because no medical or other deductions. Technically it averages out to be the same, but it's like a mini built in savings.
PaintDrinkingPete@reddit
Yeah, but there’s also something to be said about always getting paid on the same days of the month…makes scheduling automatic payments a bit easier
Solkre@reddit
This is the 24 pay way.
Cyberhwk@reddit
Indeed.
Man-e-questions@reddit
Wait…you guys get paid?
rcp9ty@reddit
In the past I've been paid monthly ( fucking sucks never fucking again ) Biweekly ( pretty normal and most jobs) Currently weekly - first time and love it. The first two paychecks go to mortgage payments and bills but the next two go to whatever the hell I want.
Stryker1-1@reddit
Biweekly it's nice if your spouse is the same and you get paid on different weeks.
SaintEyegor@reddit
Weekly. Doesn’t really matter since I stopped living paycheck to paycheck a long time ago.
GnarlyCharlie88@reddit
This is the way.
anderson01832@reddit (OP)
Fancy. Way to go!
accidentalciso@reddit
I’ve never been paid weekly in my entire career. Have had every two weeks, twice a month, and monthly at different times. Places that had hourly team members tended to pay every other week. Places that had only salaried team members paid twice a month.
BarracudaDefiant4702@reddit
Currently paid biweekly (plus 1 week lag), and have been paid monthly and weekly in the past at different times / different employers. As long as you have a steady income and enough savings you can make it with missing a couple of paycheck it doesn't matter much. The biggest problem would be switching from weekly to monthly, especially if payroll lags even further behind...

You guys get paid?!
j0kkerz@reddit
Made me chuckle:) Instantly thought of the meme.
Terriblyboard@reddit
I prefer semi monthly but currently weekly.
dwarftosser77@reddit
Manufacturing, so weekly. It makes every decent payroll software package unaffordable.
knightofargh@reddit
Biweekly (26 pay periods) as is pretty normal in the U.S. I can’t help but assume monthly in the U.S. would somehow have a loophole where corporations don’t have to pay you for this month if they lay you off before the last day.
Zatetics@reddit
monthly
Sekhen@reddit
Monthly. Standard in most of Europe.
binaryhextechdude@reddit
I'm paid fortnightly.
HSC_IT@reddit
+1 for fortnightly, have bene for well over decade. Only weekly pay ever had was as a teenager as a casual at Kmart.
derfmcdoogal@reddit
Monthly. I wouldn't go back if it were optional.
Gunnilinux@reddit
I was monthly for so long in my state jobs. It was great. I went private and now I get paid biweekly and I hate it even though it's more money
TheManInOz@reddit
Monthly. It's kinda funny. Been at this place now for 15 years. I remember when they changed from fortnightly to monthly to be aligned with other financial handlings etc. Just this month, head of finance spoke to everyone about how they reviewed this, the pros and cons of changing to fortnightly, but ended with that it is still best to have it monthly, so no change. Must be newer employees talking about it.
deadjennies-@reddit
Technically I get paid annually, and they break it up into 12 installments delivered via direct deposit at the first of every month. It took a minute to get used to it, but I love it.
MidninBR@reddit
Biweekly here. Feels good when I get 3 half salaries twice a year 😂
tankerkiller125real@reddit
Bi-weekly, the last time I was paid weekly was at a part time job when I first started out.
Paladroon@reddit
Every other Friday here
er1catwork@reddit
1st and the 15th….
8sputnik9@reddit
Weekly. Working for AU firm
sleepmaster91@reddit
Bi weekly
kuldan5853@reddit
Monthly, like almost everyone in Germany. Never known any other way (and neither do I think I need it, I am perfectly happy with monthly).
_infiniteh_@reddit
Biweekly. Most of my past jobs were semi-monthly
rafri@reddit
Monthly
Bob_the_gob_knobbler@reddit
Monthly, as does everyone else I know of.
