bro is festive asf but seriously, i feel like it is. im not DOT so idgaf if it is but this is funny lol. that one dude who commented about people leaving their lights on at night at stops would hate this guy😂
torpthursdays@reddit
Judging by your shadow you seemed to really be enjoying it anyway
medz6@reddit
If I was DOT that mother trucker better make sure all those Xmas lights are working. Fine for every one that doesn't lol
Dead_Namer@reddit
I am from the UK and never understood this. It should be ok as long as the legally required markers work.
Laffenor@reddit
Yea, this would definitely not fly in the UK.
jdpunome@reddit
Also, the lights can't change colors while moving in the US at least.
Dead_Namer@reddit
I found something interesting for the UK, blue flashing lights are not allowed but as KITT type light is because it is considered one light and a part of it is always on.
We can't had red facing lights either.
jdpunome@reddit
Damn red coats are taking away your basic human lights
Accomplished-Cat-632@reddit
Well I don’t see you point out that this is sarcasm. So asshole grinch ,who pissed in your cornflakes?? I decorate my pickup every year to great enjoyment from bystanders. Merry Christmas to you.
medz6@reddit
Definitely a joke!!
Accomplished-Cat-632@reddit
Ok. I take back the grinch reference. Please keep the early merry Christmas
gussiedupandedinside@reddit
Ticket magnet
IrreverentCrawfish@reddit
I've seen plenty of drivers do that. I'm assuming they don't plug the lights in while driving, that seems that it would be a liability.
jdpunome@reddit
Damn red coats are taking away your lights
SawyerJWRBLX@reddit
Is it any different from having a fuckton of chicken lights?
Saint_Dogbert@reddit
Yes, its a prohibited color on the front of the CMV
NukaDadd@reddit
Nope. The colors are...
marker lights & turn signals= amber ✅
Headlights=white ✅
Brake lights/Tail lights= red ✅
TheKrs1@reddit
The red is a problem.
Actual-Money7868@reddit
Yeah but they have red on the front of the vehicle.
Eternal_Moose@reddit
They also have blue. The lights and locations listed previously are the only ones allowed by law. I don't hear of it being enforced often so long as it isn't causing issues, though.
Actual-Money7868@reddit
You're right, I'm not against the lights personally but I wouldn't be surprised if I got pulled over
morgottkev@reddit
Yes
Beautiful-Slice166@reddit
If I remember right, you're legally allowed to add any amount of lights, as long as they are all functional
roytwo@reddit
Questionable legality, unquestionable stupidity
A_Dash_of_Time@reddit
From what I was taught, you can have your truck completely covered in lights. BUT, they all have to work. So technically, you could get dinged if any one of those bulbs is out.
Actual_Handle_3@reddit
You were taught wrong. 49 CFR 393.9 (a) All lamps required by this subpart shall be capable of being operated at all times. This paragraph shall not be construed to require that any auxiliary or additional lamp be capable of operating at all times.
That's not interpretation, that's in black and white. If the light is not required, it is not a violation of it doesn't work.
icy_penguins@reddit
Only OEM light are required to function properly, chicken lights or in this case, Christmas lights, are not required to work. I run well over 200 chicken lights and only the 11 OEM lights are actually required to work.
AndromedanPrince@reddit
got pics of ur cab n trailer? they look dope af at night
icy_penguins@reddit
Lol, I have more pics of my truck than of my wife, but I dont know how to post them in the comments
AndromedanPrince@reddit
lol damn u cant in this sub, only can make a post. which they need to change
icy_penguins@reddit
I put up a post, least I think I did anyway.
icy_penguins@reddit
I'll see if i can make a post
Bigskywillie@reddit
All them lights have to work all the time or you get a ticket. Can't have blue or red lights on the front either.
CashWideCock@reddit
Yes, because it’s before Thanksgiving.
Ok_Length7872@reddit
In most states, I know as long as it’s not flashing red or blue they’re good to go. Some states don’t allow extra lights at all but they won’t bother truckers about it
Livid-Abrocoma7694@reddit
Is this the 7/11 in hazle township, PA?
Tricky_Big_8774@reddit
They'd be writing him a ticket while a dozen 4 wheelers with expired 30 day tags drive by
RurouniRinku@reddit
My state completely changed the tags a couple of years back, totally different color and everything, and I still see people driving with the old expired ones. Like, how are you getting away with this?
Saint_Dogbert@reddit
BLM, is how
AndromedanPrince@reddit
whats blm
Neither_Rich_9646@reddit
Bureau of Land Management. Or Black Lives Matter. Check the man's post history if you dare to discover. This is reddit so racism and anti government rants seem equally likely.
AndromedanPrince@reddit
lmaooo some people victimize their own minds
Saint_Dogbert@reddit
Black Lives Matter/Blue Lives Matter, basically cops stopped trying because they dident want to get blasted/cancled for pulling over the wrong race for "petty" crimes.
AndromedanPrince@reddit
really? never heard that.
marqburns@reddit
At least in my state, non-commercial vehicles can't be pulled over solely for expired tags anymore.
Cammoffitt@reddit
Probably not illegal as long as you aren’t on the road, I have no idea though😂
Itchy_Psychology6678@reddit
illegal asf
Amber color on sides, red in back and amber color marker lights plus clear white head lights.
But he just chillin tho
TH3TH3RMIN4T0R@reddit
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't green a legal color to use as well?
Saint_Dogbert@reddit
No.
FossMan21@reddit
I hope so. Earlier tonight I saw a newer Honda civic that was covered front to back in lights.
babymitch@reddit
Just saw one tonight too in TN. Looked like a newer caddy tho but I was a ways away
bobbiew74@reddit
As long as there off when going down the road
Lanky-Present2251@reddit
Okay when stationary but probably illegal while moving. Causing a distraction for other road users.
FloppyTacoflaps@reddit
Its probably illegal depending on state and how bad of a day the dot guy is having
forgotmyreddit1991@reddit
If the trucks parked it’s not illegal. 😂
dewky@reddit
DOT here. On the road, don't turn them on. Parked in a lot, I'll give you a high five and a compliment.
qnod@reddit
Driving probably not but maybe legal. Sitting in a parking lot? Yeah that's fine, intact I think it awesome.
Rekkas1996@reddit
i wish, ive seen cars completely covered in christmas lights and its absurdly distracting
Rekkas1996@reddit
because, *ooo pretty lights*
HerbTarlic420@reddit
YOU GO Gully.
BTW, Gully runs a blue light on their trailers halfway point.
BoostedLexus@reddit
In California, as long as they're not blinking or red lights in front you're fine. I had my underglows blinking at night and CHP pulls up and tells me over the speaker "no blinking" and continues driving when I turn em off.
Also no other color than amber, white, or red. But they don't care about that... in my experience ofc
Royal-Application708@reddit
Hope not, it’s pretty dope.
icy_penguins@reddit
Is that old highway hank good, man, I haven't seen that dude around in years. He always had chicken lights out the wazoo and ran Christmas lights this time of year
tomtex32@reddit
Only if you're not carrying any donuts 🥯
DistinctDev@reddit
Damn, isn’t even Thanksgiving yet
Sir_Uncle_Bill@reddit
That part irks me too.
ReceptionMuch3790@reddit
He's on retail time
12InchPickle@reddit
The lights on the top could be blocking his view and be super distracting at night to him.
Sir_Uncle_Bill@reddit
I doubt those are on when he's driving though. They wouldn't be if I were for sure. I darken every light in this can that I can though.
marty_regal@reddit
Only problem I see is the ones in the windows if they have them on while driving.
xxenoscionxx@reddit
If where taking bets am saying 9 to 1 odds that they roll with them on.
lobo2r2dtu@reddit
Enjoy it. It adds to the Holliday season when many roads feel lonely during this time. I personally didn't mind them. I thought it was nice seeing truckers decorating their wheels for the seasons, Halloween, or Christmas.
justdan76@reddit
I mean… I think most cops, even DOT guys, wouldn’t want to be the asshole that wrote this guy a ticket.
Being OTR and on the road for the holidays is tough, but some people make it fun.
25 years ago my first year on the road I was at the Sacramento TA for Christmas. A woman who lived nearby came to the truckstop in a Santa hat and gave us all candy canes and we all stood around outside together telling jokes and stories. I still wonder if she and those other drivers are around and how they’re doing.
