Debating whether to get a metal or keep the oem plastic valve cover

Was going to change my valve cover gasket since it been leaking oil for a bit of time but found out it is made out if plastic but unsure wether i keep the original or install an after market metal valve cover

I mean, it's an 08 so it likely has quite a few miles on it. Unless you can see visible signs of damage on it, it's held up for 16 years. The gaskets on that generation of Mazda 6 and 3s are notorious for leaking. I'm not sure I'd trust some random ass, no name cover from Amazon, that is probably a part from Alibaba.
I have a mostly similar engine and was able to change my own gasket easily thanks to the inline 4 layout. If you're going to tackle the job yourself, call a local dealer and see if they have a valve cover in stock. If you take the valve cover off and notice damage, run over to the dealer and pick up the new valve cover. If no damage, just use the existing one with a new gasket.
