I am building a pc and buying the parts piece by piece. I originally bought a 7700x but returned it and got a 7800x3d. I was set on this chip but recently I have been thinking of getting the new 9900x. This would mostly be a gaming PC but would also be using it as a personal computer. Tasks would include browsing the web, work Tasks that would probably be things like using Microsoft Word PowerPoint etc and possibly very casual beat making. Are the extra cores that much better for working?

you‘ll likely be better off with the 7800x3d, you won‘t notice any productivity difference with the programs you plan to use, but the 3D V-cache helps tremendously with gaming.

That's what I've seen on the web. The only thing is I'm gaming almost exclusively in 1440p or 4k so the dropff would be minimal.
