Selected ‘No’ on 18W - first class medical

Hoping for some more guidance from the group. I’m freaking out a little bit
About 2 weeks ago I posted a story about how I got a dumb ticket in college while walking with alcohol in my pocket.
I was able to obtain a copy of the police report and confirmed this was ticket was filed as a misdemeanor…now I’m worried because I had selected “No” when I should have selected yes on the first class medical application.
I’m just about to start my flight training next week at a part 61 school…what are my options here? Should I reapply for the first class medical and select yes? Should I visit the AME and get his opinion?
Thanks to those who have any insight.

Pull your states DOJ rap sheet and see what’s on it. You should be able to through a fingerprinting service

If you haven't had the appointment yet, your AME can correct any of your answers before he submits your application to the FAA. That being said:

By paying the fine, you essentially pled guilty to the misdemeanor (Assuming the statute you were cited under amounted to a misdemeanor). Recommend correcting this with your AME. Assuming there isn’t a pattern of wrongdoing, this should hopefully not be a huge issue with the FAA.
On a slightly related note: I hope you chalk this up to another lesson to keep your mouth shut when speaking to law enforcement at any level and only (respectively) answer questions you’re absolutely obligated to. From your narrative, it sounds like the officer in question did not actually have reasonable Suspicion to stop you in the first place, making any evidence he uncovered afterward illegal and suppressable by any half-competent attorney. Obligatory IANAL but it’s probably useful for you to keep this in mind in the future.

Lesson learned, I definitely regret opening my mouth.
As a side note, the statue that is listed on my ticket is now repealed in my state. Not sure if that makes a difference in all of this.
My next step will be to contact a court house and see if this is on my record

If you weren’t convicted of anything, don’t worry about it

Assuming you even need to, the AME should be able to make adjustments to your medxpress.

Just because it was filed as a misdemeanor doesn’t mean you were convicted of one. Look at your own record and see if it’s on there. Call the courthouse if you need to

This is a copy of the original post body for posterity:
