Felt confident going in and what helped me the most to fly good was just pretending that the dpe was one of my buddies and I’m taking him flying for the first time. Completely got rid of the nerves. I just wanted to thank you all, you guys have helped a lot!

Congrats 🎊 I know DPE’s are different but did yours hone in on anything specific?

My DPE was big on knowing all the emergency procedures out of the POH

Did he expect you to memorize them or use the checklist you carry?
jpegjalen666@reddit (OP)
He wanted me to memorize most of the flows and double check with the checklist

And this goes for all the emergency checklists or more so those ones you need to execute quickly in a pinch like engine failure at take off roll/takeoff/in flight/ power off landing etc. i have those ones memorized but I dont have stuff like icing or high oil temp or vacuum system failure and what not

More so for ones you need to do quick. But have a general idea of the other ones and try to remember them if you have time

Thank you I appreciate it. And congrats, stay safe up there!

Haha, I'm taking one of my buddies flying for the first time soon and I'm way more nervous than I was on the checkride. That was just some guy and this is my buddy!
Congrats! :)

Congrats! Are you going for instrument and then commercial next? Or do you just fly for fun?
jpegjalen666@reddit (OP)
Yes on to instrument!
