VCRedist 2015 Cannot install a product when a newer version is installed.

An installer from a 3rd party software comes with VCRedist 2015 14.34.31938.0 bundled and it tries to install it and it fails but also the primary application is not installed because of this mistake.
There is already VCRedist 2015 14.42.34433.0 installed which is higher then 14.34.31938.0.
Is there a trick to bypass such requirements? Some people suggested to uninstall older 14.x versions of VCRedist and then reinstall the old one but in my opinion this is not a solution since our primary deplyoment tool updated it to the newer version first.
Is this a bug in the installer? What do you think? The exact error code during install is:
Error 0x80070666: Cannot install a product when a newer version is installed.
Shutting down, exit code: 0x666

Contact app's vendor support. Tell them to fix their crappy installer.

Either make them fix their installer, or do it for them.
A lot of those installers can be extracted by various tools (sometimes as simple as opening it in 7zip), and you might find separate MSI files inside for the VCRedist and the actual application.
It's specific to each application so without telling us what app it is (if it's something publicly available) that's the best generic advice I can give.
