Currently I have a Ryzen 3900x but I've noticed it start to show it's age when running newer games paired with a 4080 super.

My problem with upgrading is that I would need to also replace my motherboard and probably my cooler(although I'm not completely sure on that one). Which will all in all be pretty expensive around $1k CAD.
On the other hand I could upgrade to 5900x for around $250-300 CAD.

I wanna stick with 9 series since cpu perfomance is decently helpful for my workloads. any advice would be helpful
