Steers hub oil metallic & sludgy

Got some work done on steer hubs a couple of weeks ago and recently checked hub oil. The oil is very thick and has a silver/metallic color too it. I'm sure this isn't normal. Any thoughts?

This might be absolutely stupid but are you sure it's not grease
I brought a trailer in once because there was no oil in the hub. Turns out it was greased, didn't need oil.

It looks or feels nothing like grease

That's a new one for me 😂 my old 81 Ford took high temp grease in the hubs but I never would've thought to grease truck hubs

I didn't know any hubs at all got greased, but I've seen weirder
