It's just a GPS fix.

It’s not. It’s a pseudo fix that was required for early generation RNAV or GPS units to properly sequence the approach.

When a fix is in parens it's a "computer fix" which is there just because the GPS databases require it to have a name. These should never be used by ATC and hence given the CFXXX unpronounceable 5 letters.
