What prepping task is your most hated?

Not having power and needing to do laundry is probably the thing that I dislike the most I'll build things I'll dispatch animals garden but doing laundry honestly for me is the most hated job. I have made DIY buckets with plungers and other things I've seen online but just the task of washing laundry for me is annoying

I both love and hate organizing. Love when my OCD finds a perfect use of space and optimized way of storing, but hate coming up with it. For example, do bandages go with tourniquets or with bandaids? These are questions that will take me minutes to figure out.

I exercise and stay in shape but I don't necessarily enjoy it.

Not having enough money to have 5 years of food & water, bunker for nuclear war and dozens of acres of land paid off to reduce risk of dealing with civil unrest.

Chopping firewood. (Lot of hardwood in my area) I’m just not built for it.
DirectorBiggs@reddit
It's my happy place. I love chopping wood.
Goddess_kush@reddit (OP)
Yes, exactly!
Sropte@reddit
Same I love hunting for logs to cut
Goddess_kush@reddit (OP)
I like the chopping, I hate carrying them 😂

Get a splitter?
Traditional-Leader54@reddit
They are too expensive and there won’t always be gas available to power it. The 40v one are even more expensive than the gas ones.
Many-Health-1673@reddit
You could always use wood gas if you didnt have gasoline.
BallsOutKrunked@reddit
Fair enough. Just saying that between now and then, and for a few years with stabilized gas, you can run a splitter.

Explaining to people why it’s important to prep
Goddess_kush@reddit (OP)
Definitely, people are so very clueless.😔

I'm not a huge fan of vehicle and engine maintenance. I do almost all of the work that needs to be done on my truck including maintenance, basic repair, diagnosing stuff, replacing random sensors, etc. I can clean and rebuild a carburetor and I've done it for lawnmowers, pressure washers, motorcycles, all kinds of stuff. I've brought many 2-cycle and 4-cycle gas engines back from the dead just by cleaning them up and replacing a few parts.
I just really hate doing it. It's always so incredibly frustrating, especially trying to reach parts deep within my truck or rebuilding small parts. I'm not very dexterous, I have bad hand-eye coordination, my hands shake. I'm just not well suited physically or mentally for mechanic work.
But I do it because I want to be good at it and I like to learn new things. I also don't mind saving money, although I do tend to waste a lot of time by fucking things up over and over.
I won't touch my wife's SUV though. I was going to change the oil on it one day, bought the oil and filter, then watched a YouTube video on how to do it. Then I said "nope, take it to the shop". I forget the exact details but it involves crawling under it and undoing a ton of bolts and screws to remove a few different panels to get to the oil filter and there's some special tool required to remove it. Even with the tool it would take me over an hour, where I can do my truck in 10 minutes with no tools.

LOL. 6 months in a desert doing laundry in a bucket with a washboard and I'm an expert.
Which reminds me that I need to get that post set to get my laundry line back up.

What post? 👀
gadget850@reddit
I am moving a fence and my solar clothes dryer was attached to one post.

I dislike buying gasoline.
There’s nothing in my tasks or preps that I hate at all.
Traditional-Leader54@reddit
I hate having to rotate my gasoline. Pouring from the gas cans into the cars tank is a pain.

Thanks. I’ve been thinking about getting something like this. Would help my wife out too. She has trouble lifting the cans to fill the lawn mower.

The only "House Hold General Task" I hate is mopping. I would rather wash windows or clean a dirty bathroom. I just hate mopping. We all have one or two tasks we just don't like. Lol
