Is it better to buy a good AM4 CPU or a worse AM5 Cpu?

Depends on what you buying. If you buy top of the line am4, you have no room for upgrade. If you buy mid range am5, you can always upgrade later

that's what i was thinking, like ryzen 7 5800x vs ryzen 5 8400f
kikamons@reddit
go 7500f at that point
whomad1215@reddit
the 7600x is about 20% better than the 5600
AM5 will get new cpus through 2027

Current price/performance favors AM4, but that will change when the next level of processors hit and the prior gen gets discounted. (I always buy a generation behind for savings of the dollars, but my workload isn't gaming)
whomad1215@reddit
the 9000 series is already out
are you talking about what would be the third generation of cpus on AM5? which would be like a year away?

If you're looking to future proof, I'd definitely go AM5.
