ULPT: I always sabotage the poll ads whenever I see it

Whenever I see a poll ad, I will try to sabotage it by answering it in the opposite way. I did it on Facebook and YouTube. For example, if it asks, "Have you heard about these brands? Coca-Cola/Pepsi/Dr.Pepper/ARandomBrand," the obvious answer for me is ARandomBrand, yeah that's the right answer TAKE IT đ¤Ł

Slow down there Satan.

Thatâs just for advertising. There isnât some grand conspiracy type thing youâre fighting against. Enjoy the random weird brand soda adds. Thats all youâre getting by doing that
zack397241@reddit
That's exactly what someone with knowledge of a grand conspiracy would say
DookieShoez@reddit
âŚâŚ..you figured us out.
See, the grand conspiracy was to convince conspiracy theorists that these ads were a conspiracy, thus getting them to talk about them to everyone they can, as they do, in order to drive interest and engagement.
Unfortunately, we canât have you blow the lid off it so the microchips we put in your vaccine are gonna wipe your memory while youâre sleeping tonight.
Ta ta
zack397241@reddit
Jokes on you, I just did an IV with bleach to kill the microchip
DookieShoez@reddit
Ha! Only works if you stick a UV bulb up your butt at the same time đ
zack397241@reddit
I never take it out
ParanoidCrow@reddit
It disrupts the ad algorithm they have for you tho
Flaky-Wallaby5382@reddit
Simply statistics accounts for this

There is nothing unethical whatsoever about fucking with advertisers
They're fishing for engagement. If you interact with the ad in any way, they win.
Yussso@reddit
ArcherFawkes@reddit
Report it and it goes away without giving them engagement lol

âI always fill out the poll adds, but I totally own them by not sharing my real preferencesâ
EnthusedPhlebotomist@reddit
I refuse to answer even if it skips the ad for me.Â
lucky_young_matador@reddit
Joke's on you though, they're actually gathering data on how many people pick a fake brand in polls.
Purlz1st@reddit
I used to do something similar with my grandmotherâs supermarket rewards card. Senior citizen buying tampons, beer, and pop tarts? Sure!
pohlcat01@reddit
I always select none of the above, or similar.

These polls are called âbrand lift studiesâ and theyâre used to measure of effective a brandâs ads are. So letâs say you pick youâve only heard ârandom brandâ over Coca Cola and Pepsi, the brand running the study will think theyâre ads are inefficient. Which is a pretty good way to f with them because theyâll need to spend more money on new awareness ad campaigns :)
Actual_Doughnut9248@reddit
I just answer randomly
GerudosValley@reddit
I always skip them
taintmaster900@reddit
The only way to defeat those is to not feed them any information at all.
Tr1pfire@reddit
Someone else might have the link but there's a few programs that automatically do that for you, they send fake and/or false info to all those brands who track you, some even sending fake Google data to them. Telling the advertisers you googled makeup or something when you never have to throw off their profile on you.
usarmyav@reddit
What the fuck dude?! Take it easy.
property_of_Dami@reddit
this is a bit too unethical...
-NeoShinryu-@reddit
That's crazy
