Carpooling in budapest

Hi!
I'm travelling to budapest on 31st december, i will arrive around 23h, and want to take a cab to the center so i can change and make it early to a club for new years!! However i do not want to pay 30eur for a drive ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ do you think people outside the airport would be open to sharing a cab ride?? Like if we split it among 3 it would be lretty cheap? Or would i t come off as weird?

The time you spend trying to find others wanting to carpool will be the difference in the few minutes longer it will take you using the 100E. Taken both myself, so I can confirm from experience. Only worth a cab if your accommodations are far from the bus stop. If it's that important to you, just take the cab when you arrive and save a bit through the rest of your trip.

The cab and bus take similar times to get to the city, you'll be fine

Ah okay thank you! Also do you have any idea if restaurants are gonna be open on the 2nd of january?Â

It's normal opening hours for restaurants on January 2. Enjoy!

Yes, Jan 2 is a normal workday already for restaurants. Several shops will still be closed, especially the smaller ones.

The bus takes just a few mins longer than a cab

100E bus takes you right into the center btw! The ticket’s relatively cheap and it’s almost as fast as a cab would be.
But that’s not weird at all, I’ve done this before at other airports! If you’re a man, I’d definitely recommend approaching guys or a couple first. Although Budapest’s really safe, most girls wouldn’t necessarily share a cab with a random man.

I see!! Also do you have any idea if restaurants are gonna be open on the 1st/2nd of january?

Sure! The 1st is a national holiday, but most restaurants in the city center are open. Supermarkets and shops are closed tho, except for some 0-24 ones and smaller, typically Asian markets. January 2nd is just a normal Thursday, everything’s gonna be open as usual.

Worth a try, just look for the backpacker type and not the business dudes and families.
