No option for A2?
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
Not at this time. Reason i’m going the Rearden route with the uppers is for the guys that may be overwhelmed when first getting into the silencer/Rearden game. Hope this makes sense!
Gar-ba-ge@reddit
Oop sorry not sure why I typed A2, I meant FSB
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
All good! Not this go around but maybe in the future.
ThemeAccomplished199@reddit
Any idea on when you’d be getting rearden DPBs in black? It’s the final piece I want to complete my new build
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately not ETA as of now but i’m hoping soon!

Compared to a Criterion Core 11.5 are there any use cases where this is the "obvious" choice?
colin22b@reddit
Core barrels are great, but are not cold hammer forged like this Centurion. This will lead to a longer life span with the FBI barrel. Also, Centurion offers tabbed gasblocks that index on an indentation on the gasblock shoulder of their barrels, I highly recommend getting one if you're considering this barrel.
I'm in for both this barrel and gasblock, it came out to $318.90 shipped to me via USPS priority after the discount code.

The longevity argument is oft-repeated but never (ime) cited. The other points make sense to me. Thank you.
"There is lore about CHF - like that it makes barrels stronger and last longer. There isn't a good study that I am aware of that shows this is the case, under what conditions it might be the case, what variables could play a part, or anything like that."

I get what your saying about actual citable data in regards to data for barrels, but on a basic metallurgical level forging yields the strongest grain structures in a given metal. In regards to barrel life, the chrome lining probably pulls more weight in that arena. Both the Core and the FBI barrels are chrome lined so you're good either way.
BestWorstTimes@reddit
That's what I've read. By the time you've worn through the chrome and the barrel steel is exposed, not sure it matters. Chrome aside, how much longevity is metallurgy vs. the heavier barrel profile? Unclear to me.
I have 0 issues with this barrel. Anyone who wants it should buy it. I'm trying to figure out if I want it.
resetallthethings@reddit
only real argument is probably the heavier profile being better for keeping groups tighter during heavy firing schedules/maybe less zero shift between using a suppressor or not.
At one point hammer forged was thought to be more durable, but I think the general consensus now it that with modern metallurgy and manufacturing techniques it doesn't make a tangible difference.
OnlyPatricians@reddit
No one has provided any actual hard data to support these assertions. At least not that I've seen.
BestWorstTimes@reddit
The longevity argument is oft-repeated but never (ime) cited. The heavier barrel has benefits for sure (and more weight). Thank you.

This has been a debate in the gun community for over a decade now. There's no real solid evidence one way or another that is public information.
We can only base opinions on the theoretical properties of the barrel.
resetallthethings@reddit
Yeah just passing along what I think I've gleaned.
TBF, I don't think there was hard data on the assertions in the other direction either.
Obviously there's some decent data on there on comparing lining, and various steel types, but I never recall seeing anything besides "it is known" in regards to hammer forging being more durable. When any of that did cite anything it was generally on older firearms
sig_pistols@reddit
I actually sold my 11.5 Criterion Core specifically so I can buy this. My mental gymnastics to justify it was reading that it's just as accurate as the Criterion Core, but at the same time, the chrome lining is a little more robust for durability. I doubt I was ever gonna shoot out the Criterion, but I figured might as well, for about the same price. It's also gonna be replacing the barrel in my HRT build, so the FBI barrel profile is s little closer to accurate.
BestWorstTimes@reddit
Can't argue with clone logic. Thank you.
somersp91@reddit
What does FBI mean? Like an LE model?
brianstheman@reddit
Female Body Inspector
Im-a-magpie@reddit
It's has the same profile as the Colt FBI 11.5 barrels.
VanVetiver@reddit
Question about the E4 bolt note in the description - Does this barrel require that specific bolt to function or is it just optional?
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
Nope, totally optional!
VanVetiver@reddit
Got it, thank you!
Im-a-magpie@reddit
Worth it though. Can get them for $75 from weapons outfitters.
VanVetiver@reddit
Good to know, thanks. I’m assuming the intent of the tapered lugs is for reliability?
Im-a-magpie@reddit
Yep, and supposedly lasts longer. The bolts also have dual ejectors. Very much like a KAC bolt.
DocHolliday3884@reddit
Great barrel, i run mine suppressed
Backlessback@reddit
Same, mine groups really well too
nope_noway_@reddit
I have this barrel and love it! Awesome price!
saltexas18@reddit
You run it with a can?
Bearloom@reddit
At first I assumed the ATF jokes had expanded to including something called the FBI Hammer.
Anyway, Banshee is a mensch.
Bambinorino@reddit
any KAK np3 stuff in the future you're thinking of stocking?
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
Not at the moment, but i’m sure u/bevanballistic could help you out!
bansheedefense@reddit (OP)
Good hunting, STALKER.
We finally got the 11.5" FBI barrels in! We just had a hefty restock on Sandcutter BCGs, Sandcutter carriers, BLEMISHED Sandcutter carriers, V2 Bolts and gas blocks! Code "ELPOZOLE" is good for all of Centurion minus the sandcutters - use "THEMERCHANT" for those :) We're sending out all the parts to D Wilson today for the assembly of our first run of uppers that will be either stripped or come with a Rearden R2S. Waitlists are open if youre interested!
We've got a decent amount of Rearden and LPM in stock now. We also had a restock of Emissary, Driven Arms Co., and SLR.
BRT 8.3" 300BLK barrels just came in as well. Don't forget to use code "THEMERCHANT" as it works on the majority of the site.
SIDENOTE: I'll be out of town from 11/22 - 12/1 so any orders placed during that time will start shipping 12/2. Thank you guys for the unreal support and have a great Thanksgiving :)
