Water storage

Why does aqua brick say to use within one year? If the water is treated , can’t it stay longer ? Debating between those (I like the 3 gallon size) and the stackable 5 gallons from the ready store but those say with treatment the water can stay for five years. Why wouldn’t I treat and not have to use/refill annually ?

It's easy ( and easier) to just rotate. I used a few gallons of stored water today to warsh my trash cans. Empty 'em out, fill 'em back up.

Yeah I think if I get the smaller (3 gallon size) it will be easy enough to water plants with.

It's generally a good idea to rotate stored water even if it's been treated. Much depends on the water source, the container and the storage conditions. A cool, dry, dark storage location is best.
Also, some people have concerns about plastics leeching into the water, even from food-grade, BPA-free containers.
My take is that we all just do the best we can. Nothing is ideal. In an emergency any water you have stored will be better than what you can collect and treat locally.
