ULPT: I need advice list of companies that have recently closed down for my resume
Posted by ch1993@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 14 comments
I have a huge gap in my resume recently because a few jobs I worked, I only lasted a bit because their culture was toxic. Afterwards, I was doing an online gig that is hardly impressive.
I need something to fill the gap because I’ve been applying like crazy but never get a response. I have been using “independent contractor” but I believe this has hurt my chances.
I need to start lying and fabricating in order to not lose everyone I love at this point. Any tips?

If it can't be verified it's not included in the final packet. If you’re not getting calls it's because you're not meeting the matrix. I'm only checking references if your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities directly reflect the required job duties.

There’s a whole sub for this. r/BeMyReference

Just put down a fake job and say most of what you were doing was confidential and put the contact information down as a text now number or a friends number and just pretend to be that company

Toys R Us, Radio Shack, Blockbuster, KMart

The Third Reich went out of business, but most of their employment files remained for examination by others. Does that happen with the Kmarts and Blockbusters of the world, or investment firms that went bankrupt?

Why closed down? Get a friend to act like a manager on your behalf. Shit, I'd even do it.

It depends on what timeline you're looking for.
If you land on a good, closed company, go all in on your "qualifications"

"I don't think we should hire that guy, every company he works for goes out of business."

I am the grim reaper at my work. If I get transferred and I am your coworker. One of you is invariably gone

From what I’ve learned a lot of amusement parks will not give out any information on their employees. I had a government background check for a security clearance for my job and the amusement park would not confirm whether or not I worked though even though it was like 7 years prior to the new job I was in. From talking with the investigator this is pretty common.
So if you did fabricate a record, amusement park (even upper management at an amusement park) could be a good way to go.

Just do a giant company like Amazon. They never check anyways

just fyi ... they def check and larger corps are easier to validate. they even have dedicated and automated lines for this very purpose

Better to find some small ones that are at least regionally close to you.

Maybe it wasn’t the culture that was toxic……
