Sad restricted state noises
Scientific_Coatings@reddit
Lanbos has 10/20s for even cheaper. 👍
USAFWorkAccount@reddit
the question is if they can be uncucked though
hagthor@reddit
Goodland guns has straight 10/20s by duramag and asc. Rivet through baseplate, ez out, ez fix of you wish. Back to normal in no time. Fyi, they also have 10/30s etc. they are nit as cheap as lanbos though.
USAFWorkAccount@reddit
Helll yeah brother
Scientific_Coatings@reddit
I don’t own these ones, but from the pictures, it appears to be just a rivet that is limiting the round capacity. Typically these can be drilled out. I’m trying to find a pic of the internals but having difficulty.
I’m curious enough now that I might just buy one lol
Carlile185@reddit
They emit sounds of joy, but all I hear is restrained pain and suffering.
BurninTree5@reddit
Man, a lot of people complaining about these. I’ve got like 6 of them and I’ve never had a single issue with any of them. These are typically the metal 20s I recommend to people who ask. I did buy those a couple years ago though.
Thansungst22@reddit
I got a couple of these for the DRIP factor and Instagram pics and zeroing on a bench but I would not recommend them for serious use
Lot of issues with feeding different types of ammo properly
From basic bitch fmj to 77gr soft tip/match it seems it always have issues across my 4 mags I got for the vibes
Cool ass looking mags though
xmu806@reddit
Let’s be honest, if you want practical cheap options, you really can’t beat pmags
NoobRaunfels@reddit
Literally no better mag made than a gen 3 PMAG. Bless.
NancyPelosiSportsBra@reddit
The new AR10 20 round pmags with the windows are pretty cool too
brs_one@reddit
Guys will do anything to not use Gen M3 PMAGs
Frockington@reddit
Pmags may be superior in function, but these are superior in drip.

Like most elite three gun oper8ors I'm sure they are too busy optimizing their magazine selection. I know the ones at my range are too busy talking about gear to practice so they all shoot like shit.

looking cool is way more important than shooting well lmao have you met us here?
brs_one@reddit
Rip
anarchthropist@reddit
For varmint hunting? oh god yes. pmag 20 rounders are perfect.
brs_one@reddit
Also nice for zeroing off the ubiquitous caldwell deadshot bags
BeyondRawr@reddit
Man I'm still using gen 2 pmags. Got 100 still sitting in their packaging as well.
brs_one@reddit
That’s fine. But I’ve seen enough M2/MOE over-insertion incidents on the clock to only recommend M3’s if someone’s looking for a mag to standardize on. I also prefer the tougher material and higher round-presentation angle. I feel like it’s worth the extra couple bucks per
vegas0012@reddit
Allegedly the Gen 2 polymer is now the same as Gen 3, but your point on overinsertion tab and round presentation angle still stand.
brs_one@reddit
Good call, thanks. I’ve also heard the there are some differences in the internal geometry (i.e., a little extra room in the M3’s) which make it a bit easier to seat full mags on a closed bolt
brs_one@reddit

BobFlex@reddit
I have both. PMAGs for when I want to get shit done, steels for when I want to look cooler than everyone else on the bench
Almost_average80@reddit
Thanks. Just picked up 20 windowed gen 3s for $12 each. Thats a fair price.
MagicManHoncho@reddit
But like, these drip harder than pmags. /s
gravehunterzero@reddit
what's the issue with Gen 3? I have as not of gen 2
brs_one@reddit
That’s the thing. There are no issues with M3’s
ihopeicanchangel8r@reddit
As someone who owns the Colt 20 rounders that are now discontinued and these, these are pretty junk. Better than nothing but I wouldn’t run them as your primary, just for pics and vibes.
mozziepickle@reddit
Junk how so?
ihopeicanchangel8r@reddit
Considerably more feeding issues than the colts and insertion on a full mag takes way too much force. A lot of this stems from these not being designed for 20rnds, but rather a cut down 30rnd body with different follower
bubbathedesigner@reddit
Don't cut down 30 mags have a curve on the bottom instead of being straight?
ihopeicanchangel8r@reddit
Indeed they do. I pointed out I was incorrect with that statement and clarified a few others a few replies down
mozziepickle@reddit
Thank you for the clarification, I already put my order in but that’s because I’ve seen mixed reviews on them. I’m running an A2 clone so hoping they still work out 🤙
wormraper@reddit
they're fine. not sure what's he's talking about. these mags have been offered by Brownells for over 20 years and have worked great. they're not cut down from 30 rounders but designed using a straight body just like OKAY mags (which colt rebranded)
mozziepickle@reddit
Seeing as even OKAY mags are scarce online, the only two options usually in stock are H&R, D&R, or Brownells for the straight gray 20 rounders. Luckily it’s a 10 pack so I’ll have a big sample size to test from!
wormraper@reddit
H&R are nothing but rebranded D&H (and they're actually cut down 30 rounders with a slight curve in them). straights are Brownells and ASC
anarchthropist@reddit
I love the asc mags.
wormraper@reddit
I've never tried the ASC ones, but I've heard bad things from them... but I'm willing to try if I get a sale (i'm an unabashed mag whore... between my AK and AR mags alone I'm closing in on 600)
anarchthropist@reddit
Sorry Im a idiot and meant the Okay ones.
I've seen the ASC mags advertised but never brought them because the okay 20 rounders were available and I knew they actually *worked*. Furthermore, they were the only ones that looked like proper 1960s era 20 rounders (partial middle rib)
wormraper@reddit
lol, no worries. I have 10 of the OKAY 20 rounders and 20 of the brownells.
I wish more reputable companies made 20 round mags (there are pmags and lancer 20 rounders, but they don't have the same drip as an aluminum GI mag)
anarchthropist@reddit
The forum rumors were that the okay machinery was bought by PSA/H&R or something such. Dont know if true or not.
Yes, i use the pmag 20 rounders for varmint hunting and they're impeccably reliable, but, they dont have the right look haha. I've also been wanting to test a couple e-lander 20 rounders i bought a while ago but haven't got around to it.
wormraper@reddit
rumors are that C-products actually ended up with it, but no one REALLY knows as therer has been no verification.
also, for 20 rounders, the D&H 20 round aluminum mags are really reliable and wilson combat is dumping them for $11.17 (free shipping at 9 or more)..they're like magpul in that they're not straight walled, but for USGI mags you don't get much better than D&H or OKAY
anarchthropist@reddit
ooooo nice!
wormraper@reddit
I just ordered 20 because.....well....I have issues when I see deals on mags lol
anarchthropist@reddit
So im old enough to remember getting more or less caught with my pants down on AR mags following sandyhook at the 2012 election. Vowed to never let it happen again.
wormraper@reddit
that's me to a T... I have PTSD from that time period after having literally 3 AR mags in my possession. I now have enough to last 5 life times
I_WELCOME_VARIETY@reddit
Duramag makes a really good straight 20 rounder but it's stainless. Their aluminum 20's are curved.
WarlockEngineer@reddit
ASC as well https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/20-223-ss-bm-o-asc
tribeofham@reddit
Same here. I've never had an issue with any of mine. But then again, I'm running with the original 1:10 twist ratio out of my A1 so I'm using 55gr ammo. Perhaps this is why?
wormraper@reddit
ummm are you talking about these or the D&H ones? these were most definitely straight designed from the beginning. brownells has made these for the better part of 25 years and they were most certainly designed as a straight wall magazine.
the D&H ones are the ones that are cut down 30 rounders.
ihopeicanchangel8r@reddit
A couple of clarifying point. These are not "cut down" like i originally stated, they are made using 30rnd body tooling which is why the body ribs are the same as a 30rnder.
Also Brownells does not make these mags, they contract them out and have been for decades which you can find confirmation of in their own CS responses to the AR15.com forum. No single manufacturer has been making these for Brownells, they are made by whoever is willing to give up tool time to make these on contract.
Lastly, these are not faithful reproductions of the Colt 20rnders as you can see for yourself in these pictures you'll note that the feed lip geometry is closer to a 30rounder than a Colt 20. The only difference in this picture between the surefeed 30 and the brownells is the angle of the feed lip which is proprietary to the surefeed design. Whether these were designed from the ground up to be 20rnders is questionable to me considering they use a 30rnder body and 30rnder feed lips, but even if they were that doesn't change that they are objectively worse than the Colt contract 20rnders and not a faithful reproduction. The significantly shorter COAL parameters are why these will not be making it out to my next competition as they can cause bullet drag and FTF.
WarlockEngineer@reddit
I will agree with this guy, I had feeding issues with my brownells 20 rounders.
I replaced them with ASC mags and those Brownells retro waffle mags
Delicious_Windows@reddit
That clown has no idea what he’s talking about don’t even bother
Delicious_Windows@reddit
These definitely are not a cut down 30 round magazine. Put a straight 20 next to a curve 30 and you’ll see that the bottom of the 20 goes quite a bit past where the curve starts on a 30. It would be impossible to make a straight round bag from a curved 30 smh
anarchthropist@reddit
I also had pretty bad luck with the couple that I had. They dont even look correct to give me asmr retro tingles either.
Snoo76929@reddit
never tried these, but the 20rd Stoner mags from Midway have been flawless for me
richiecotite@reddit
Yep, those are good 20 rounders. They’re steel, and allow handloaders to go out to 2.31
Sketchy_Uncle@reddit
112.50 for a 20 round mag?? wat...?
fuck_llama@reddit
Reading is hard
Kozak170@reddit
These mags suck honestly from my own limited experience. Wish I would’ve gotten my hands on some Colt ones back in the day.
YXIDRJZQAF@reddit
if you bought the MCX-R recently these look very good in it. I just paid 16$ :|
mozziepickle@reddit
THANK YOU, FINALLY!
