Y'all how do we feel about the 2013 Chevy equinox?

I'm thinking of trading in my 04 rav4. It's still a great car a lot of life left to it ,only 118k mileage, but I want something a bit newer now.
One of the possibilities is a 2013 Chevy equinox so I want to know if there's any common problems to watch out .
Some other possibilities are a few different 2017 subarus. The subarus are at a dealership I'm more familiar with as they've treated my dad and stepmom well, so they've got that going for them
So like thoughts and opinions?

The Equinox is one of those cars you buy because you're currently out of a car and have limited options. Why not just keep the Rav4? You didn't mention anything wrong with it.

If you want more modern amenities you can mod them in. Like an aftermarket CarPlay head unit, backup cam and new speakers. Bleed the brakes.
That rav4 will last a long time. If you do all that and get it detailed, it will feel brand new.

Newer Rav 4?

I'd take an older Toyota with 200k over any GM product after about 2012

I owned a 2013 Equinox for about five years. Bought it used in 2015. They don't have a good reputation as far as reliability goes, but I treated mine well and it never gave me any issues. I was very interested in the Subaru Forester at the time, but the Equinox depreciated so fast that I could get it for a much better price.
The biggest complaint I had about it was that I went with the 2.4L I4 rather than the 3.6L V6 because I thought it would save on gas. The I4 had to work so hard that I didn't really save much.

If you had one for 5 years and no issues you should play the lottery.

Just say no to Chevies.

Guarantee the 04 rav4 is gonna far outlast the equinox. And the rav4 honestly probably isnt worth much less then the equinox unless it has super low miles

Keep the rav for a bit unless you have a specific need to upgrade. Equinox is no good, and subarus have been kinda a mixed bag with some engines needing heads in the mid 100s. If you have to pick one, subaru all day.

No on an Equinox.
The daughter's is in the shop again. Last year, it was a water pump and timing chain. Less than 110K miles.
Right now, it is sitting on a lift. Another timing chain, oil pump, water pump, and new seals on that end of engine.
Her Equinox is a millstone of repairs. I've told her many times to get rid of it, even losing money, just get rid of it.

Don't get rid of the Toyota at 118k.
2017 Chev Equinox 2.4l, ...at 40,000 miles, climate control ducts, hot to cold, failed. They go clunk clunk clunk continuosly, even after ignition off key out.
You might get warm, you might get hot, you might get cold air-whats life without whimsy.
Big job to take dash off, replace junk plastic garbage duct controls.
Rear axle seal leaks, 50,000. PCV plugs (every 5 k oil changes ), rear engine seal blows out, oil warning system doesn't work.
Instead of buying an Equinox, every morning after breakfast just light a twenty dollar bill on fire , keep the Toyota, still money ahead.

There is a mechanic on instagram showing the half dozen exinox variants that needed engines at about 120k. Take the Subie, my 08 has been very reliable.

I wouldn’t be too confident on buying the equinox myself. From a quick search, looks like oil consumption is a big issue for most owners. It’s also had 2 recalls, my rule of thumb for older cars is don’t buy one you hardly seen on the road the last 5 years. You’re better off getting a Toyota or Honda if you’re buying preowned

Equinox is garbage, don’t buy. The Subarus are all right, just watch out for CVT issues 2017 and earlier
