Why is windows server 2016 not recognizing a password for the pfx certificate when i try to import it but my windows 11 machine does recognize it?

I'm going crazy here, I have a perfectly fine .pfx certificate that i'm trying to import into a windows server 2016 and every time it's telling me the password is wrong. But when I import it into my windows 11 machine it recognizes it and I can import it fine. What am I doing wrong?

This is likely your issue
Windows Server 2012 R2 and Windows Server 2016 operating system will never receive AES256-SHA256 algorithm support for PFX certificates.

I know how it goes, but you may want to SERIOUSLY consider trying to get that server updated to something newer than 2016. Mainstream support has already ended on that, and extended support ends in Jan of 2027. That seems like a long way off, but it really isn't.
With the number of security features and updated back end on the newer versions, it would be a GOOD idea to update if you can. Sooner rather than later.

i'm slowly working on that one.
